Living in London will allow you to experience life in a leading global city.

Strong in the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services, research and development, tourism and transport, London is widely considered as a world cultural capital and one of the world’s leading financial and legal centres.

History of London South Bank University

Founded as the Borough Polytechnic Institute in 1892, the institution achieved university status a full century later when the British government granted full university status to all polytechnic institutions after enacting the Further and Higher Education Act of 1992.

Since laying down its roots in South London, the institution has been improving the lives of students, businesses and the local community by providing vocationally relevant, accredited and professionally recognised education.

Its original aim “to promote the industrial skill, general knowledge, health and well-being of young men and women” remains central to its mission today.

After going through several name changes, it became known as the London South Bank University in September 2003.

It has since opened several new centres including an Enterprise Centre, a new Student Centre, the School of Health and Social Care, the Centre for Efficient and Renewable Energy in Buildings (CEREB), and a new media centre called Elephant Studios.
