First established in 1892, London South Bank University has absorbed a number of local institutions and now teaches almost 20,000 students. Popular with mature students, its specialist areas include health and social care, science and the built environment. For most students, accommodation in Southwark, Kennington or Elephant & Castle will be most convenient; however, those at the LSBU Havering campus should consider Mile End or other east London locations.
