Frequently asked questions about student housing in Boston

How do I apply for a student room in Boston?

First, you don’t have to worry about costs using our helpful services. Student.com does not charge you anything for this service: you’ll only need to pay the rent to the property you end up selecting.

Applying for student rooms with Student.com is very simple. First you can click “view rooms” on a property you are interested in. After this, you can click “Enquire” to create an account and you will have a booking consultant reach out to you shortly to help you find the best option specifically for you. In Boston, there are many new rooms that come to the market everyday, so if you do not see exactly what you are looking for, we can help to see if there are any new options that better fit your needs, as well as help you with finding roommates. We will help you with all questions and make sure you are getting the best deal available.

What options are there for contract length?

The lease terms are flexible for most of the buildings in Boston. Some properties built for student housing may have a 10-12 month minimum, but the majority of our rooms can be leased for 3 months or more. The shorter the lease term, the higher your monthly rental rates will be. Enquire on our site and we will work to find the best option for you!

I can see you offer different types of student rooms. What do these room types mean?

Each property and building has different rental options. The Entire Place option will cover the cost of the entire apartment, while a Private Room means you get a private bedroom but share other facilities with others. In a Shared Room you’ll share a bedroom with a roommate as well. The private and shared rooms are typically more affordable and the properties can help you with finding roommates.

Are bills included in my rent?

This depends on the property you rent, but most of our properties in Boston do not have bills included.

Can I see a property before moving in?

Depending on the property, you will either be able to have an in person tour or a virtual tour. Enquire about the rooms and we’ll help to get this set up for you.

What is a guarantor and will I need one?

A guarantor is a person who signs the rental contract with you and commits to paying your rent if you can’t. A guarantor is most typically a family member, but it can be anyone. Most Boston landlords want you to have a guarantor, so you’ll most likely need one in Boston. If you are an international student and do not have a guarantor, most of our Boston partners will allow you to rent rooms with additional deposits and proof of enrollment, along with an I-20 form. Our booking consultants can help you get all of this sorted once you are ready to move forward.

What if I didn’t get an answer to my question here?
