Frequently asked questions about student accommodation in Manchester

How do I apply for student housing in Manchester?

Applying for accommodation on Student.com is easy. First you need to choose the right property for you. Our map feature and filters will help you narrow down your search.

After making your choice, go to the property page by clicking the ‘View rooms’ button. On the property page you’ll need to choose the dates you’ll be needing the accommodation for and the type of room you’d like to live in. After this you should click ‘Enquire’ or ‘Book now’ and leave your contact details. One of our booking consultants will then call you and explain the next steps. After your chat with the booking consultant, we’ll then get your contract ready for you to sign. This whole service is completely free for you, so all you’ll have to pay is your rent and your deposit.

What are the different room types you offer in Manchester?

We offer three different types of rooms in Manchester. Do note however, that not all properties have all three room types available.

A Shared Room has two or more people sleeping in separate beds in the same room. Any additional living spaces like living room, kitchen and bathroom are shared with other rooms.

In a Private Room you have a private bedroom. Other facilities are shared with other students.

If you go for the Entire Place option, you will get a fully self-contained studio property. This means that all your living space as well as cooking and bathing facilities are only for you and you don’t have to share with anyone.

How do I pay my rent?

Once your contract is signed, we’ll give you all the details you need to pay the rent. You’ll pay directly to the landlord and won’t have to pay any fees to Student.com.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Yes, to secure your booking with your chosen property, you will be asked to pay a deposit. Your booking consultant will give you more information about this.

I’ll only stay in Manchester for a short while. Can I book short-term accommodation?

Some of the properties we list also offer short-term stays. Others do have their own fixed move-in and move-out dates that correspond with the academic calendar however. You can talk to one of our booking consultants if you require dates other than the typical academic year and we’ll find suitable options for you.

Can I live with a friend who will also be studying in Manchester?

Absolutely! Make sure you both book with Student.com and after submitting your application, log into your account and mention in your preferences that you’d like to live together. Make sure the person(s) you want to live with will do the same and list you as someone they want to live with.

Can you arrange a viewing of a property?

If you want a viewing and you’ll be in Manchester before your move-in date, that can be arranged. Many of the properties we list have excellent photos and videos on the property page though, so you’ll be able to get a good idea of what a property will look like even without seeing it for yourself.

My question was not answered here. Where can I find more information?

If you have any other questions, you can check our FAQ page or contact one of our booking consultants. They are always happy to help with any questions you might have!
