The booking process was unnecessarily long and stressful compared to the accommodation I have now ( which is of much better quality ) The room I got was fairly large and looked the same as the pictures I saw online. HOWEVER, when I moved in I was very upset and so were my parents. As soon as I walked in the whole flat had a musty smell and it was obvious that nobody had cleaned it. The reception wouldn't let me see the contract before arriving and i had to sign my contract before seeing the property in the day. That was when I had a really bad feeling. I had to pay a £560 deposit, a £500 booking fee and more than 1k upfront for the first few months installment. For me the money wasn't the problem, it was what I was receiving for all that money. Let's start with the room. There was a huge patch on the damp wall where paint was chipping off, I complained about this almost 4 times at the reception and the only thing they did was peel it off. The maintenance guy also barged into my LOCKED room when I was asleep. Nobody informed me when he was coming and I felt very uncomfortable. The shower floor was moldy, the carpet was old and old toiletries were left in the cabinet. The kitchen/ living area was the worst part. The fridge was absolutely VILE. As soon as I opened the fridge a strong stench hit me, it obviously hadn't been cleaned for months. The microwave was so rusty that you could actually see the surface if the table when you look inside. The oven was not clean, there was so many pots and dishes in the drying rack and the extractor fan was way too small for the kitchen and was in the wrong place, because of this, the whole kitchen and living area was sticky with oil and all the window sills had black sooty dust sticking on the oil - not a good combination. The carpets had gum all over the floor and the dining chairs were miss matched. Fair enough all these damages were probably done over the years by previous students but where is the £560 deposit from each tenant
