Founded in 1907, the University of California, Riverside (UCR) is a public university spread across an exciting 1,900-acre campus. There is also a 20-acre branch campus in Palm Desert. UCR’s 21,500 students are kept busy with over 300 diverse clubs, sports and musical performances on campus. One of the university’s notable alumni is two time Pulitzer Prize winner and editorial cartoonist Steve Breen. Students tend to choose accommodation in Riverside to be close to the class, but there are a range of nearby options available.
