Feel like you’ve stepped into your favorite college movie in a town known for its thriving culture and strong school spirit

Life in State College is all about Penn State University. Experience the camaraderie of one of the largest universities in the country while cheering for the Nittany Lions hockey team at Pegula Ice Arena. Dress all in white to intimidate the opposition during a White Out football game at Beaver Stadium, then celebrate a win with an ice cream from iconic Berkey Creamery. From American favorites at Otto’s Pub & Brewery to wood-fired pizzas at Faccia Luna, State College is full of great places to eat.

It’s also a cultural haven, from the quaint boutiques of bustling downtown, to major arts venues and specialty museums. Step off the beaten track to admire the archaeological artefacts on display at the Matson Museum of Anthropology, then dress up for a concert, dance show or theatre production at the Center for the Performing Arts. In summer, don’t miss the annual Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts – a four day extravaganza of live music, art shows, plays and food trucks.

When you need a break from the fast pace of college life, get out and explore State College’s abundant green spaces. For a breather between classes, you can’t beat the Arboretum at Penn State; while weekends offer the perfect opportunity to explore the region’s plentiful state parks. While away lazy summer days picnicking by the lake in Rothrock State Forest, find yourself mesmerised by the fall colors in Bald Eagle State Forest, then head to Tussey Mountain’s ski slopes in winter.
