Achieve your full potential at University of Wollongong Kooloobong Village, where the focus on positive psychology will help you to flourish
The convenient location is a real plus for this community, which is located on the University campus in a bushland setting. All students at Kooloobong Village will be able to access a range of modern facilities such as indoor and outdoor cinemas, BBQ facilities, music rooms, movement space, gamers lounge, activities room and meditation/yoga prayer spaces in addition to study lounges and communal areas. These will complement the existing facilities such as an outdoor pavilion with barbecue facilities, a sound-proof music room, basketball court, games room, seminar rooms and various other communal spaces.
Kooloobong Village is a mix of newer units (Building 68, completed in 2013) and older units (Building 37). The newer units feature self-catered accommodation comprising of single studio rooms, postgraduate/mature age couple rooms, and four bedroom units. All of the facilities contained within Building 68 are available to those residing in Building 37. The units within Building 37 are all five bedroom units, featuring a shared bathroom, kitchen and dining facilities. One of the most popular features of these units are the outdoor balconies overlooking the picturesque University grounds, frequently visited by our mascot Koo the Kookaburra.
Also new to Kooloobong Village will be the focus on positive psychology, a world first for students residences where everything is planned and run entirely based on the science of human flourishing - how we can be the best we can. The vision of having every student flourish while living at UOW is firmly supported by the combination of wellbeing and education.
University of Wollongong Student Accommodation has received recognition for their efforts in changing behavioural norms towards alcohol in university residences by being awarded Level 1 Accreditation from UniCan in all sites, Keiraview being recognised at Level 2. Only recently implemented in Australia, the University of Wollongong student residences are leading the way in Australian student residences with their programs. The ‘Alcohol Accreditation’ Program, UniCAN, is a national initiative by A+D Education Specialists and is designed to change alcohol norms in university residential properties.
