This complex is often praised for its strong sense of community, with many students highlighting the friendly and responsive staff who go above and beyond to create a welcoming atmosphere and quickly address maintenance needs. Its convenient location as the first stop on the campus shuttle route is a major plus, and residents appreciate the various amenities and frequent community events. However, some past residents have reported issues with communication regarding unexpected fees, particularly during move-out, and concerns have been raised about disruptive renovations and the occasional need for appliance updates.

I’ve lived here for 3 years and have never been disappointed by the office staff’s service. Huge shoutout to Emma, who is always so friendly, makes genuine conversation, and somehow always manages to track down missing packages. She truly goes above and beyond for residents!

I have been a resident of the Outpost for the past two years and loved it! The only reason I'm moving out is to attend graduate school at UC Berkeley. If not, I would stay at The Outpost as long as possible since management (Jerry), office workers, and maintenance crew are amazing!

I lived here for around two years. The leasing office and maintenance staff was always helpful and very nice. However, the complex undertook invase, poorly-managed renovations that they used to justify an increase to our rent. Around the same time, I was told that they had discontinued short-term lease options just before my renewal period. This lack of flexibility was a big issue for me as I was graduating early. I chose to stay at the outpost because it had been a good experience overall, and because I was initially told the complex kept a list of units seeking lease takeovers and would help connect me with prospective renters. After I paid the lease takeover fee, a different staff member informed us that this list did not actually exist. I spent months searching for a new tenant while in my last semester of college with no success. After move-out, I was met with damage charges that felt excessive, but I was able to apply the lease takeover fee toward them. After everything was paid, my account balance actually showed a credit owed back to me. The complex still attempted to collect hundreds of dollars from me several times with no clear explanation of what the charges were for. After a few attempts I was able to sort this out, but communication with the complex was difficult. On top of the above charges, the complex switched utility providers a few days before my lease ended. I was charged extra fees tied to the new company for the final few days of my lease despite having paid through the city as the complex instructed and not being informed that I would be responsible for fees associated with the change in providers. The complex did not provide any guidance for how to deal with this and continued to threaten to send me to collections. I had to reach out to the utility provider directly, and my dispute of charges was denied. Overall, the complex is maintained well and I had a good experience with staff, but this has been overshadowed by my experience trying to find a subletter and other difficulties that spanned for months after moving out.
