Recently someone stole my daughter electric scooter right front of her. My concern, is that happening a lot. Student safety is compromised. My daughter stayed in dorm. As a parent I am worried.

The University of Texas at Dallas has a reputation for being intensely career-oriented. Its culture is shaped by proximity to the tech and business sectors, and that influence shows up in how programs are structured: practical coursework, measurable skill-building, and a strong expectation that students translate what they learn into internships, research roles, and technical competence. The atmosphere can feel utilitarian, but it is intentionally aligned with employability and clear professional outcomes. UC Davis presents a very different academic personality. It is large, highly branded, and confident in its standing as a flagship public university, yet that scale can create an experience that feels diffuse rather than sharply directed. Students often have to navigate layers of systems and large, impersonal course environments before finding traction, and the responsibility for creating momentum can fall heavily on the individual. Some critics argue that this disconnect between image and day-to-day structure leaves certain students questioning whether the investment of time and tuition translates into the level of preparation they expected. At UT Dallas, the message is straightforward: build skills that can be demonstrated. At UC Davis, the experience can feel less tightly aligned, with reputation sometimes leading and practical focus following. The distinction is not just stylistic — it reflects two different ideas of what a university should prioritize: direct workforce readiness versus a broader, more decentralized academic model.

In observing the academic evolution of North Texas, it is impossible to overlook how The University of Texas at Dallas has rapidly matured into a top-tier intellectual powerhouse that commands immense respect across the region. The prevailing narrative among my professional colleagues and friends who have navigated the Campbell Road campus is one of deep admiration for its relentless focus on STEM and high-stakes research. I’ve frequently engaged in discussions where the consensus is that UTD manages to strip away the traditional "college town" clichés in favor of a sophisticated, high-performance culture that mirrors the fast-paced Silicon Prairie surrounding it. Many acquaintances have specifically lauded the Erik Jonsson School and the Naveen Jindal School of Management for their uncanny ability to produce graduates who are not just job-ready, but industry-leading from day one. It is heartening to hear firsthand accounts of how the "Comet" identity is synonymous with a data-driven, innovative mindset that values intellectual grit above all else. From my conversations with local families, there is a palpable sense of pride in the university’s growth, particularly in how it maintains a respectful, inclusive atmosphere while consistently raising the bar for national academic prestige. Ultimately, the collective feedback suggests that a degree from this Richardson landmark is a serious investment that yields significant dividends in the modern global economy.

The worst university in Texas EVER!!! Bad advisors, bad faculty!! The tuition is so high but you receive no service for it!!! Don't ruin your children's life with enrolling in this aweful school!! Especially if you are international be aware that all the faculties and advisors in their departments received zero training about how to handle international students related rules and they give people wrong information that can endanger your immigration status!!! Trust me this school is not good for anyone and it does not worth your time and money!! Go to SMU instead!!!

The advisory services are awful, the student body is not an inclusive group, there’s no school spirit or camaraderie, no sports, not enough on-campus housing, and apathetic professors disinterested in leading with purpose or making meaningful student connections. Our son has had a terrible time getting through this University as a transfer student, I recommend you send your son or daughter anywhere else in Texas, there are simply too many good schools to choose from in TX to put up with the regular annoyances of being a student at this school. This is not a welcoming or accommodating school for native Texans, which is really disappointing. Their sole focus is on the international student body. The campus is nice, the people who run it are awful.
