I always leave current reviews wherever I stay, changing them as the year(s) go by. I'm a new tenant, and had loved the initial chance to have a balcony and the very cheap rent, but boy was I in for a shocker when I moved in. I didn't notice nearly half of the filth until I started doing move in cleaning. Theres clear signs of smoking from other tenants as it clung to everything, floor, walls, the fridge, counter tops, bathroom walls that leaked down after showers, and worst of all, the rug in the bedroom, which if any cleaner tried to shampoo that, they would've just seen it needed to be pulled and replaced, cuz 8 washes later and the water was so dark you'd think it was bottom lake water and reeked of the most intense weed, and cigarettes I've smelled in years. I tried my best to clean everything, but for a place that demands a security deposit, it felt whoever was hired to clean just came in, looked around and left. The dishwasher had seemed like someone threw up in it and let it calcify too, took several attempts of cleaning it to run that old dishwasher clear. I tried to remain positive, I try to be understanding, but I'm starting to realize my previous landlords and the property I came from set some of the best standards. The front door was another issue, the second lock doesn't work because whenever the door was placed, it wasn't aligned, and it doesn't have a deadbolt ontop either. It's just simple things that should've already been working fine in an apt just rented out, as these things were there from the moment I moved in rather than something that happened after a while of staying in my lease. It's been a bit of a disappointment for just within the first month and a half of being here in that regard that frustrated me. Update: i feel a bit better at least having the fan replaced after so long, but the lack of communication with a tenant, and updating the tenant as to why there's a problem, needs to be improved. It's a horrible feeling for a tenant to never get a little message informing the update of the issue. The knowledge of what's going on and as to why could've helped curbed a lot of frustration and helped boost a tenants patience and understanding. I was left in the dark with only one message of an update to show after over a month of silence, and I had to be the one to ask for that update too as the wait got worrying. Update: The response back only seems to disappoint more in regards to the standards having been made for themselves. I thought I was getting a decently cleaned home when I came in, only for the filth to seep out in a way no potential tenant would've seen during a brief tour. That means the unit just wasn't as cleaned as professionally as it could have been. If that's a reflection on the hired crew, then so be it, thats something the property needs to look elsewhere than for cleaners, I myself used to be a cleaner and can recognize who ever cleaned a home before me, put half effort in just to check off the list and be done with a job, hoping no one will notice. And yes. Those types of workers do exist, it just feels unfortunate for whoever owns that space when they paid for quality and it wasn't delivered, which is what I'm seeing. Mostly just disappointed for the rug and the dishwasher. I will say, I did appreciate Patrick coming through and personally explaining to me what had happened with my work order at least, but it sucks it took so long to get informed on properly what was happening from the maintence guy and not the landlord or receptionist checking in on a tenant.
