I came in to get some basic information on a 1 bedroom. I was greeted kindly by Maria who helped me during my visit. The property was very nice and the complex looked very clean and well maintained. I was given all of the information I needed in a timely manner.

I had a 1-year lease with Boulevard at Deer Park. First, I want to say that the front desk staff is extremely nice, friendly, and helpful. I never had any issues with them personally. Before moving in, I was told that my apartment had been cleaned and inspected. Since my actual unit wasn't available to view at the time, I was shown the same floor plan in a different apartment. However, when I finally moved into my apartment and started taking the required move-in pictures of any damage or issues, I quickly realized it didn't seem inspected or cleaned at all. I found cobwebs, spiders, dust, dirt, and chips throughout the apartment. Honestly, it looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned and that the previous tenant had just moved out without much cleanup. The biggest issue happened during my lease when my water heater broke at NIGHT just randomly while I was in my bedroom. My kitchen, bathroom, and living room ended up with inches of water, and it almost reached my bedroom. It also damaged some of my belongings and affected my downstairs neighbor. In the middle of the flood I kept calling the maintenance number even for this emergency but it kept going to voicemail and just not even going thru as I called multiple times. It was at that time I was lucky my neighbor came outside for help with a different maintenance number on a card he had which looked like an emergency maintenance number than the standard number. So I don’t know why I never got that emergency number card originally. Thankfully, the flood restoration vendor they use responded quickly and took care of the situation, but it was frustrating because I was told the apartment had been inspected before I moved in. If the apartment was inspected, was the WATER HEATER ever actually checked? I was lucky enough to be home when it happened because the damage could have been much worse. After the flood, I had to deal with loud massive dehumidifiers, and fans running in my apartment for quite a while so I stayed at my parents. The soaked carpet had to be peeled back for it to dry, and I had to remind front office to staple it down back again, I feel like maintenance could have done a slightly better job fixing the carpet. It worked, but it definitely wasn't perfect. Also the floor was still warped even when everything dried so who knows if they fixed it when I left. When my lease ended, I made sure to leave the apartment as clean and tidy as possible. Honestly, I think I cleaned it better than whatever "inspection" was supposedly done before I moved in. That's why I was pretty shocked when I didn't receive my FULL SECURITY DEPOSIT BACK. After moving into an apartment that didn't appear properly cleaned or inspected, dealing with a water heater flood that wasn't my fault, and leaving the apartment cleaner than I found it, not getting my full security deposit back felt unfair. A full security deposit refund would have been nice considering my apartment literally flooded because of a failed water heater. I do feel like I had some pretty bad luck during my stay here and it could have been way better..

My work truck had the back window smashed out again this morning and some tools stolen. This is the 2nd time in a year. Kind of feel like car break ins can happen anywhere but now that its happened a 2nd time, doesn't feel safe leaving my vehicle inside the gate.
