I’d still rate The Catalyst around 3.5 out of 5 stars. The building has potential, and the pool is honestly the best amenity — it’s the only part that consistently feels “luxury.” But overall, the experience doesn’t match the price or the image the building tries to project. They announced a million-dollar renovation this year, yet there has been no visible improvement other than some new pool furniture. If that’s where the entire budget went, it’s extremely disappointing. Residents were expecting meaningful upgrades, not décor changes. There’s also a constant feeling of being over-regulated. Management is very strict about guests at the pool, monitoring how many people you bring and hovering in a way that makes the space less enjoyable. It’s strange for the one good amenity to feel so restricted. My biggest problem was the pricing and fairness. I paid more for a smaller unit than someone I know with a much larger apartment on a higher floor. Between that and all the unclear fees, it genuinely feels like there’s a lack of transparency. For the prices they charge, that shouldn’t be happening. On top of that, the concierge staff is often clueless and rarely seems to know what’s going on. This is especially concerning because The Catalyst advertises on-site security, 24/7 concierge, and a high level of service. Yet during my time here, two residents were robbed, which raises real questions about safety. If there is truly 24/7 security, how is that even happening? Overall, The Catalyst looks nice at a glance, but the management, unclear pricing, weak security, and lack of meaningful upgrades make it hard to justify the cost. If you’re thinking about moving here, make sure you ask detailed questions and compare units carefully. For a “luxury” building with a million-dollar renovation, the experience should be much better than what I had.

I just renewed my lease and it was because of Annette Knoth. She has been an absolute blessing as my leasing agent. From the very first day I met her, she has been consistently kind, helpful, and incredibly thorough. She truly goes above and beyond and doesn’t treat you like just a tenant, but as friendly neighbor. I’m so grateful for her dedication, patience, and positivity. Leasing agents like Annette are rare, and I feel very lucky to have her in my corner.

If you’re looking for a place that feels like home the moment you walk in, this is it. The building is gorgeous, the amenities are next-level, and everything is super well-kept. Big shoutout to Annette — seriously the BEST leasing agent ever! She made the whole process so easy and stress-free. Friendly, helpful, and always on top of things. If you’re apartment hunting, do yourself a favor and check out Catalyst. You’ll love it!

I recently toured Catalyst Apartments in Houston and was completely turned off—not by the property itself, which is actually quite nice, but by the leasing agent, Annette. From the start, she was unpleasant and unwelcoming. She repeatedly questioned why, as someone in real estate, I needed her help finding a home. That line of questioning felt inappropriate and unnecessary. She also told me I couldn’t record any of the empty apartments “for safety reasons,” which struck me as odd and unlike any other apartment complex I’ve toured. To make matters worse, she accused me of recording her because I was wearing Ray-Ban glasses—despite the fact that my glasses were off and clearly not recording. Throughout the tour, she was snippy and dismissive. Whenever I asked questions—like what view we were seeing (I’m not from Houston)—she acted annoyed and redirected me back to the website instead of simply answering. I had just flown in to tour in person, yet she seemed bothered by even the most basic questions. While the building itself is appealing, Annette’s rude, unprofessional, and unwelcoming demeanor was enough to convince me not to rent here. A leasing agent is often the first impression of a community, and unfortunately, she made mine a negative one. I wouldn’t feel comfortable renting from a company that allows someone like that to represent them.
