Prose South Main

I recently toured PROSE Apartments and was extremely disappointed. The first thing I noticed was a horrible smell around the property. Group of people outside smoking marijuana. On top of that, there was dog waste in the stairwells, which immediately raised concerns about cleanliness and management upkeep. I decided to come back after 5 PM to see what the environment was like in the evening, and it honestly felt worse. There was a lot of activity outside — people sitting in cars for long periods, a strong smell of smoking in the air, and constant traffic in and out. It didn’t feel peaceful or residential. It felt chaotic and, frankly, shady. There’s a dead-end area on the property where a lot of random cars and trucks were parked with people lingering around. It did not feel safe. The gates offer little to no security because anyone can just follow another car in. There doesn’t appear to be real access control, which defeats the purpose of having a gated community. Based on what I saw, I would not feel comfortable living here. If safety, cleanliness, and overall environment matter to you, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

Serious Security Issues & Misleading Management Do NOT be fooled by the new buildings or marketing. Prose has major security and management problems that potential residents deserve to know about. Vehicles are being vandalized on this property, yet management repeatedly claims the cameras do not work or cannot be accessed. This is a so-called gated community with surveillance that is apparently useless when actual crimes occur. That alone should be a deal-breaker. The front office is dismissive, slow, and selectively responsive. Management enforces rules and policies when it suits them, but when residents experience vandalism or safety concerns, there are no answers, no footage, and no accountability. The inconsistency is alarming. There is a clear picking and choosing of who receives help and attention, which creates a lack of trust and transparency. If cameras can be used for minor issues, they should also be usable when residents’ property is damaged. The fact that they are not raises serious concerns. Bottom line: no real security, poor management, and zero accountability. Once they have your lease signed, support disappears. If you care about your vehicle, safety, or peace of mind, look elsewhere.

DO NOT MOVE HERE — ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE NICE THINGS. Prose Apartments Houston is in an area with constant vandalism and crime, and Greystar management and the on-site office staff are completely nonchalant about it. Incidents happen repeatedly, and management’s response is dismissive, slow, and unapologetic. Property damage is treated like an inconvenience rather than a serious safety issue. There is no sense of urgency, no accountability, and no real protection for residents or their belongings. If your car or personal property gets damaged, expect excuses instead of action. The lack of concern from the office is honestly alarming. Residents are left to deal with the consequences while management collects rent and shrugs off legitimate concerns. If you value your safety, your peace of mind, or your property — do yourself a favor and live elsewhere. This place is not worth the stress, the risk, or the money.

Excellent experience with Prose South Main Prose South Main is an excellent, well-organized, and highly professional community. They consistently go the extra mile to maintain high standards and a great living environment. I would like to especially highlight Alyssa, who addressed all of our questions with patience, clarity, and a level of commitment that truly goes beyond her job responsibilities. Alyssa’s attention to detail, professionalism, and genuine willingness to help made a significant difference in our experience. I also want to recognize Shaunda, Schlonda, and Aunjelice—a strong team of young professionals who work hard to ensure this community continues to shine. When rules or instructions are not followed, they step in to make sure the property remains organized, clean, and enjoyable for those of us who truly value quality of life. On behalf of the Freytes Barjau Family, thank you for the excellent service. 👉 Honest recommendation: If you are organized, responsible, and appreciate cleanliness, structure, and clear guidelines, this is one of the best places you can live. If you do not like order or following instructions, this is not the place for you—consider renting elsewhere. For those who value cleanliness, structure, and a high standard of living, Prose South Main is an outstanding choice.

The experience so far has been absolutely phenomenal—I truly love my apartment. Everything is spotless, with no pests of any kind. When they say “luxury apartments,” they genuinely mean it, unlike many other places. The front office staff is exceptional and always greets you by name. Alyssa and Sholonda made the entire move-in process smooth and stress-free. I did encounter a few minor issues upon arrival, but Pedro, the maintenance guy, resolved them the very same day. I appreciate how safe and quiet the community feels, and I’ve been enjoying the fitness center and the coffee machine as well. There’s even a Level 2 charging station available for electric vehicles, which is a great bonus. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my new home.
