Haven at Elgin lost my first rent payment, which I submitted as a cashier’s check to the manager Ashley before even receiving my keys. I have proof all payments were made and processed, and the office repeatedly confirmed my account was paid in full. Despite this, they forwarded my account to collections, putting my rental history at risk. This is completely irresponsible and unprofessional. Their mishandling of payments and lack of accountability has caused me unnecessary stress. I do not recommend renting here. This how they like to do first time young renters who might not know much about disputing with rental complex like these and make it difficult for them moving to the next apartment. I would keep record of all payments if your a parent they might try this on your child.

Thanks to leasing porfessionals Adrian and Morgan walking me through the process, I was able to move in about 2 weeks ago. if you can't get ahold of the higher ups in the leasing office. I would prefer only going to them if you need anything honestly. My personal experience so far has been great despite the bad reviews. It is affordable and it is a nice place to live short-term. If you are a student with a stable income and no rental history, this place is not too bad and a good place to start. Just be mindful of management and the area surrounding the apartments. I came from an apartment that was much more exspensive plus the living space was terrible so to me this is an upgrade. The only bad experience is the residents complaing how horrible it is to live here and I do not blame them, I am just the type of person to experience things for myself. They also did improve on some things people were complaining about such as the trash situation. Every time I put out trash they made sure to pick up for me no problem. However, i will give the personal feeback that I have come across: for one, I don't appreciate the customer service and the cmmmunications between whoever is at the front desk and the residents. If there is someone at the front desk, they are usually a student and aren't great help. Which to me is very unprofessional if they really care about improving these reviews. If you are going to have a receptionist at the front, make sure they have empathy and can actually assist residents with whatever they need. Also, I heard that they have a tendency to add random fees to the monthly rent which hasnt happen to me yet but I am letting anyone kow ahead of time in case that does happen to me. Finally, They do not give a heads up to the current residents about new roomates. Which I think is important to let residents know if a new person is living in their space. Luckily I took it upon myself to introduce myself to the current residents beforehand. but they should already do that. At least a notice on a door. I will definitely update this review if more things come about. i am really trying to give this place a chance. I definitely will give a five star if my experience at Haven continues to improve! Thank You, Tyann

I have lived here for 2 years and Haven has gotten no better, if not worse. Recently there was a power outage over break and there was no notification of it. When I returned to my unit after a 3 week break the fridge was infested with gnats and maggots. I went to the office expressing my concern and they completely turned me away and suggested that I clean it myself or they would send their mediocre cleaning crew to clean it. According to the health department the amount of infestation would not be able to be removed by cleaning and it is suggested to replace the whole fridge itself. They refused to listen even though it is a health code violation. They also do not take care of the property what so ever. The tenants are able to let their animals use the restroom ANYWHERE (including the hallways, stairwells, and elevators) and face no repercussions. The management is extremely rude and dismissive. If you can live anywhere else… DO IT.

The staff at haven has given be the best stay here. They make everything convenient for me and my dog. They show so much love whenever there’s anything that I need assistance with. Malik, Ola, Josh, Ashley, & Ty are literally amazing and I advise anyone interested in living here to ask for any of them!

I just got off the phone with Ty and I’m already so impressed! He was super helpful and answered all my questions. I’m very excited to know that I can use my financial aid to help me pay my rent, which is a huge relief! The way he described the community and amenities has me genuinely excited to come down for a tour. You can tell he really cares about finding the right fit for people. Can’t wait to see the place in person and I’m already feeling good about this decision.
