I went today to tour and I think it’s such a nice complex. They have a library , outside area and an area to host event. I like the style of them. I look forward to live there.

Living at Ave J of New Hope Housing felt like navigating a system designed to frustrate and intimidate residents. Management changed constantly-sometimes several times in a year-and each change brought new rules, new policies, and, most painfully, arbitrary rent increases. One month the rent would rise with no warning, and when I asked for an explanation or a breakdown of their calculations, there was no answer. Not a single paper trail, no logic, no transparency-just a dismissive, “That’s just how it works.” It was exhausting and dehumanizing, leaving me feeling like I had no control over my own life. (Rules and/ or quotes as it pertains to rent even when the previous manager put them in writing were still never validated or upheld) Accessibility was another ongoing nightmare. Assigned parking worked initially, but management eventually switched to open parking. Able-bodied residents-even those with handicap stickers who didn’t need the spaces-took the spots, leaving me unable to leave my apartment for days. Scooting on my mobility scooter through the lot became a necessity. Elevators frequently broke down for days at a time, forcing me to cancel doctor’s appointments and physical therapy. Requests for accommodations or even a discount were ignored, leaving me frustrated, stranded, and completely unsupported. Units were often infested with roaches despite my best efforts to keep a clean, tidy space. Maintenance staff like Alberto, along with Susan Mayfield and Carl “Necia” Sydnor, were the only consistent bright spots-they were professional, responsive, and genuinely helpful. But no amount of individual effort could fix the chaos, the arbitrary rules, or the lack of care from management. Leaving Ave J (managed by New Hope Housing) on October 14th, 2025, was the best day of my life. I finally escaped a system that was unpredictable, impersonal, and profoundly unfair. If you value transparency, fairness, and professionalism, do not rent here. Arbitrary policies, unexplained rent increases, and management that refuses to answer questions make it impossible to feel safe, respected, or in control.

Provided DJ for United Healthcare Care, Ribbon Ceremony for residents at Avenue J. Front Desk lady was very helpful with loading my equipment onto elevator. Elmo was a big hit and we played some Sesame Street tunes for the kiddos and their parents!

Since my move-in to Avenue J, it has been nothing but excellent. It has a gated garage with our own parking spot, security patrol officer every night-(I’ve talk to them and they are cool), cameras on every floors, updated appliance, maintenance stays on top of work orders, comes with W/D-(which is a bonus point), great community gathering area, plans events for the residents and much more. I remembered when I walked into office on Saturday in August, I can tell Jayden was tired and was ready to go home, but she still kept it professional and friendly at all times. I also requested where I wanted to live and Jayden got me the apartment I wanted. I would most definitely recommend her to anyone, she is sweet, friendly, great work ethics and more. Only thing I wish this apartment had was balcony but I can’t complain my view of downtown and seeing sunset every night. Ohhh-it’s also in a goood location…it’s by U.S 59, Walmart, Kroger, Family Dollar, Gas Station and more all are close by. Definitely check out and call them….prices are good-!!!

It's still being built so, not all of the facilities are up and running. The application process was straight forward with no curve balls or anything. Units are selected depending on income. It's a very modern building. They're clearly swamped with applications and visitors so, be patient with them. UPDATE: It's been over 2 months and i have not heard anything back from them. Whenever I emailed the leasing manager, she kept assuring me that they would get back to me but, never did. UPDATE #2: I heard back from them on September 2nd saying that I needed to respond to them by the end of the day.
