Students often find this property appealing due to its attractive downtown location, the promise of luxury living with hotel-like amenities, and a generally welcoming leasing experience, frequently highlighted by positive interactions with specific leasing staff members. However, many residents report ongoing challenges with the day-to-day living experience, including frequent issues with air conditioning, unreliable elevators, and slow maintenance response times, which can detract from the overall comfort and value.

I moved into The Statler Residences in August 2025 genuinely excited about the historic building, the downtown location, the "luxury" branding. Here's the honest reality of my year here. The water has been shut off 13 times. I've dealt with 5 separate HVAC issues. On 12 different occasions, only one of the building's three elevators was actually working, which, in a building this size, means standing around waiting just to get home. We've had a full power outage. We've had multiple leaks, and the water-damaged walls that affected multiple residents across multiple floors have now gone almost four months without a single repair. For a while, the building's coffee machine (which they advertise as a perk) was literally pulling water from an AC unit. I wish I were exaggerating. What wore me down most wasn't any single problem, it was how they were handled. Concerns were consistently brushed aside with a quick "we're on it," and then nothing would happen. Maintenance takes forever. There are no package lockers, so your deliveries are essentially held hostage to whether the concierge happens to be working. And despite the community they advertise, there are no real resident events to speak of. The few bright spots were people, not amenities. Tacoby in leasing genuinely went out of his way to help with anything I needed, and at the front desk, Tahj and Luis were the only two who treated residents like actual human beings and clearly wanted to help. Outside of them, most of the front desk staff came across as unfriendly and like they'd rather be anywhere else, which sets the tone for the whole place. As for the perks people mention: Waterproof, Scout, Bourbon & Banter, they're nice, but they're open to the public. You don't need to live here to enjoy them, so they're not really a benefit of renting. If you're drawn here by the same image that drew me in, ask current residents what living here is actually like before you sign.

I’m usually in a jacket… imagine how HOT it must be in an apartment for me to complain about the AC. We went without AC for a week before something was done. Be prepared to CONSISTENTLY put in work orders when you live here. Elevators are down every other week. Also… the power was out once in all units and the only had 50 spots available on the hotel side to stay. Before we could stay on the hotel side we had to pay a $50 deposit…. We didn’t ask to be inconvenienced. It’s sad that I got in the elevator with 5 other residents all complaining about how bad things are here and that they won’t be renewing their lease. I hate leaving negative reviews but this is information I wish I knew going in. Can’t wait for my lease to be over. UPDATE 6/3/26 since you “care” so much about our stay being comfortable please come fix our guest bathroom. The fact that we are still dealing with the same thing is further proving our point. Over a week to address a work order is exhausting

Concierge staff is amazing but the building itself isn’t. Elevators are constantly down and one can’t access the stairs to go up so you are forced to wait for the elevator -not as bad as you think but when you have to cram in there with 8 other people it does get ridiculous. AC in the building is also unreliable, I constantly have issues every month and will go a day or two without AC. Work orders are also a gamble - it’ll either be addressed in a few days or over a month. Will not be renewing lease. *Noticed that most of the 5 star reviews are from people touring the residential area but not actual residence.
