Rooms facing the main road are unsurprisingly noisy. Heating and cooling does not work very well. No elevators.

I spent my first 2 years of school there in the late 80s and really enjoyed it. You really get into campus life when living there instead of off campus. Schuhmacher is especially iconic since it's really close to Sbisa and across the street from all the action on Northgate. Easy to park and unload stuff too. Nice having the fresh balcony to hang out instead of stuffy hallways. You have a roommate and 2 suit mates and share a bathroom in between. Some evenings we even managed to have partys and sneaked in some adult beverages ;). It's not luxurious, but who cares when you're having fun.

Y'all be great. The balcony dorms are seriously underrated, Schuhmacher especially so. Not only can you stick your arm outside to get an idea of the weather, you're treated to some of the best sunsets in College Station. In the fall, the sun sets around the edge of Hullabaloo, so we just get the awesome clouds. In the spring semester, the sun sets behind Northgate. It's truly beautiful. I've spent an evening or two just watching the sun set with friends. Northgate can be a little loud (especially La Bodega, eesh), but it isn't too bad. Just annoying... though it's pretty easy to put up with most nights. While I do miss the soap holder on the mirror, the updated vanities are totally awesome. Just cleaner and nicer looking all around. Some of the drawers stick (especially the ones below the closet), but that's fixable with some soap on the rails. The community here is active and engaging, and I really feel like I belong. I don't know half the people, but they're a welcoming lot. Some water can get under the doors during heavy rain, but it doesn't last too long. It's definitely nowhere near Mosher levels, no matter the meme - just a "really?" kind of thing. The rooms get a little cold in the evenings, but that's a good thing. It makes you more productive until you decide to go to bed. It gets to be a bit of a hindrance after like early-mid November, but change quickly and you'll be okay. Means I can use more blankets, which is nice and cozy. Floors can also get a bit cold, but it's really nice after a long, hot day. Location is stellar. I'm 3.5 minutes from Blocker, 10 minutes from Heldenfelds, 8-10 minutes from Zachry, and 10 minutes from the MSC. I'm also right next to the Underground and NSG, which is awesome. Overall, it's an awesome place to live and I'll probably be here next year. My one actual complaint is the mattresses, but those are standard around campus. Just bring a good mattress pad and you'll be just fine. Edit: I had a problem with mold my freshman year, but maintenance got it fixed up and left me with a dehydrator to keep it from happening again. The north area office manager guy said that 2018 fall was particularly bad for mold because of all the warm rain, and I haven't had a similar issue this year. I did have to to live in Moses for a couple days, but it all got worked out. It was stressful then, but not so bad when I look back.

Four of the best years of my life, 1983-1987. 321 Schumacher was the place to be.

Great location. Its nice to be able to step outside just by going out the front door of your room. The rooms are pretty small and the restrooms don't look super nice, but if you aren't high maintenance it's not a problem at all. The building itself is ugly and the rooms aren't super pretty either, but you save a ton of money by living here.
