The dorms are decent, but the fire alarm goes off too often, especially at night.

Sharing my experience as a parent. Would like to see a better HVAC system employed that can keep up with the summer temps, especially on the 4th floor. The lack of Elevators contribute to a less than perfect score. Rooms are quite small but adequate. Ability to use networked devices on LAN is difficult and restrictions on LAN switches is cumbersome and difficult. Wifi is good, at least in the room my son is in. Laundry, waste disposal, kitchen facilities are good. Would like to see updated break areas on the floors as each time I visit they are hardly used. Perhaps they can be changed to put a community kitchen on each floor instead of odd numbered floors.

Do not live in Aston. Fire alarms go off 5 times a week cuz people burn popcorn. They will go off at 3AM. Terrible experience. Currently 2 am after 3 fire alarms that started at 12 AM. Got an 8AM tomorrow. I’m moving out. **** this place. Go to any other dorm in the commons or hullabaloo. Good luck.

My son lived in Aston Hall his freshmen year (2020/21 academic year) and it was okay. It's an older building (built in 1975), but his room on the third floor had been recently renovated, and the furnishings (bed, desk, drawers, etc...) where in good condition. That said, the rooms are small and the living situation was not ideal. Due to COVID, students were stuck in the dorms much more than usual. Two students shared a small (12'X12') space to sleep, attend online classes, study, etc... Under normal circumstances, when students attend classes in person, and have full access to all campus facilities and resources, the living situation would likely be more acceptable. Move in/out was also a hassle. Parking was difficult to come by and everything had to be hauled across campus and up/down 3 flights of stairs, so plan accordingly. Overall, it's a decent residence hall that is clean and well maintained. It's conveniently located next to the Commons Dining Hall and near the Engineering Activities Building. Despite this, my son hated his living situation (again it was during COVID).

Water tastes sweet and makes my eyes hurt, and I don't know why. Doors sound like thermo nuclear explosions. Chilling here lets me ignore my impending suffering through. 11/10 don't burn the popcorn.
