Being a resident, I can say that Yugo Austin Rio is a great living arrangement! The place is quite peaceful most the time, and the elevators never take much time either (probably due to only having 7 floors). Additionally, it’s nice to have a free black+white printer that’s useable. Also, the gym is a nice addition. Next, the staff is super welcoming & accommodating to residents, and the staff is just super helpful and supportive in general!

Yugo Austin Rio looks very new (I think it was built in 2019). The amenities (study rooms, gym, printer, etc.) are all great. Yugo Austin Rio is also very close to UT Austin campus (about a 5 minute bike ride). The elevator wait isn't that long because there are only 7 floors. I live in a 4x4 and our apartment has a 65-inch Smart TV, living room, stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, and a washer and dryer. Yugo Austin Rio is also pretty secure since you need to scan in to get into the building, use the elevator, use the first floor stairs, etc. Move in process was very streamlined. The price is ok - it could be a little lower. Overall, I would highly recommend.

Early move was seamless! It was leagues above move in day for Waterloo last year. Everyone who was helping moving roller boxes up to my daughter’s room was so nice and worked hard in the heat. It was so much less stressful this year and it made my trip there much more enjoyable. Thank you again!

great place to live for simplicity. there are not much amenities but it’s chill. overall was good however leasing agent told me i was going to have a specific room that i did not end up with when my lease started. our apartment had a “window” in the living room but it wasn’t much of a window because it faced the wall of waterloo, which the leasing agent did not disclose with us, we were just lucky to get that side of the building

Yugo threw all our food, Brita, and Tupperware out and did not compensate us for the loss of it all (about $1,400 across 3 people) when our refrigerator broke in September and our stuff had to be moved into a model apartment. There was no communication between maintenance, leasing, and the cleaners on this issue. The cleaning crew threw away our stuff and the front office was not made aware to even get us a new refrigerator after we had given notice and clearance on 3 separate occasions about our situation from staff members. We were given $100 per person to buy new, were sent on a wild goose chase to get receipts or credit card statements for it all when that was not possible since some of it was bought in cash or were staples/ Tupperware/ a Brita that were not purchased recently, and when given the statements of what we could find that surpassed the $100 Yugo still did not give us the proper amount of money owed. On top of throwing away all of our stuff, the front office staff was incredibly rude about it and difficult to work with when coming to an agreement about the next steps of their companies mess up. Additionally, most times when there was a maintenance issue that required a part the office would say “it hasn’t come in yet” and weeks would go by until we would say something about it and all of a sudden the part was in that day? I don’t think so. Complete laziness and forgetfulness. Finally, the garage gate, the treadmills in the gym, and the elevator were constantly broken and were not fixed in an appropriate amount of time (the treadmills being 4 months at one point and the garage gates were open weeks at a time on multiple occurrences). The garage gate being broken at the beginning of every semester and randomly throughout the year was ridiculous when our cars were getting broken into with windows smashed and things being stolen when they are supposed to be protected. They also could not manage parking to where other people who did not have a parking permit were parking in our garages, taking our spaces to where we would have to park in handicap spots, then we got ticketed for it. For paying $175 a month for a parking spot that someone who does not live here is occupying/ cars parking in the middle of two spots and I am getting ticketed for is not ok. Monitor the parking garages or fix the gates where random people cannot park here. We pay a lot of money in rent for all these things to occur and the staff not being quick in response, respectful, or understanding about the frustrations of it all. Ever since the apartment was bought and brought into Yugo it has gone downhill and I would recommend people not to live there. There are a lot of apartments in West Campus for similar pricing being run by better companies.
