Do yourself a favor and DO NOT LIVE HERE. Believe all the reviews with how awful this place is. I lived here for THREE WEEKS back in March of 2024 and it was the worst 3 weeks of my life. -The windows in my second bedroom of my unit weren’t shimmed correctly and had a literal gap (ie- it was open to the outside and not sealed, even if was just few centimeters) -my AC wouldn’t work and maintenance had to come at least 3 times to check it out. The first time, they showed a pipe to my unit was literally bent and had been installed that way. The second time they said the problem was repeated to the rest of the building -too many other smaller problems to list here but I have a full email documenting them all. What I did to get out? Documented EVERYTHING. Literally everything. Pictures and writing down occurrences with dates/times. I also called Austin Code immediately to come look at my unit regarding the window not shimmed correctly and non-working AC. The helpful woman from Austin Code literally told me “if you can, I would get OUT of this complex entirely” because she issued 2 notices of violations: one for the window and one for the AC. They let me break my lease and terminate it but not before I still wasted 3 weeks at this place and moving fees both to move in AND out. But I’m so happy I’m OUT and constantly think about how miserable I’d be if I had been forced to stay. If you currently live there, try calling Austin Code and make sure the person from Code deals with YOU to look at your specific unit and not management staff.

I moved out of the Markson after having lived there for a year. I’ve patiently waited a while to see how moving out went before writing my review and felt it was best to speak up. When you see people giving 5 star reviews you will notice one thing in common… the majority of these people have either recently moved in or were given a tour. Maybe they had a good experience but you can’t go off temporary exposure. As for me, my overall experience was pretty rough and this goes down as one of the worst apartment experiences I have ever had. I have lived in Austin for close to 15 years and have lived in roughly 8 different apartments. This is the first that I am even writing a 1 star review. 1. First off, I like many others had the experience of using the elevator and it breaking and completely stopping in between floors. Luckily I was able to get out quickly when it happened to me but there were others who were stuck for a few hours (read reviews) 2. The reviews you are reading about non stop fire alarms were absolutely truthful. False fire alarms were a common occurrence and we got use to seeing fire trucks being dispatched in the middle of the night and then make U turns out of the property because they were false. Maybe this issue has gotten better for the residents now. 3. There is no maintained dog park. It’s a selling point when you move in but months to a year later, I never saw construction again and watched trees and weeds over take the area 4. I was never notified upon move out of any itemized charges, instead, they sent my bill to a debt collector with zero notification. It was very unethical and the first time I’ve had this happen. 5. Make sure you always have your phone charged or you will risk being locked out as there are no physical backups and my “app code” they suggested never worked. 6. Maintenance is largely absent. Hopefully that has improved since I’ve left. 7. Moving in was a complete and total nightmare. The elevators were broken that day so my movers had to carry all of my furniture up four flights of stairs. There was zero heads up from management. 8. My move in date was pushed back several times, and when it finally came time to move, I had to ask them an hour before my movers arrived to send over my welcome letter. That was the start of major red flags to come. In short, the inside of the apartments are beautiful and the location is great and I think many people like myself get pulled in by that. However, the staff and the upkeep of the apartment would have to change drastically for me to ever recommend this place.

I have lived here for 5 months, and unfortunately, it has been an ongoing nightmare since day one. We moved into a unit with an active bug infestation. Pest control was delayed nearly a month, and management dismissed our concerns. After two visits, they falsely claimed the issue was resolved. It was not. The infestation has only gotten worse, with plaster beetles and termite workers covering the walls, ceilings, and floors. One of our two bedrooms is completely unusable. We have followed every instruction given, yet management has made minimal effort to fix the root problem. Emails go unanswered for weeks, pest control shows up inconsistently, and the Regional Manager refuse to reduce rent despite us losing use of part of the apartment. When pest control does show all they do is spray (which the vendor met with me and advised me simply spraying will only decrease them but not resolve it) and place glue boards to collect the adults. It took over three months just to get approval to transfer units — while neighboring units are also dealing with pests. Additionally, our A/C went out 3 times in the first month of living here with unclear communication of the progress or reason of consistent failure— our utility bill was high due to temperature fluctuations, yay. Maintenance took over 2 weeks to fix our ice maker, as well. This level of neglect and lack of accountability is unacceptable. Although the location is great and place looks wonderful, I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before signing a lease here. Bummed because I was really excited to live here — several other residents have told me they will be moving out due to poor management as well.

The Markson Apartments are gorgeous, but honestly, the real star is Alexandra! She’s been SO kind, quick to respond, and just overall amazing to work with. She makes the whole process easy and fun — you can tell she genuinely cares about helping people find the perfect home. All of my clients only have positive things to say after touring as well! The property itself is beautiful, but having someone like Alexandra in the leasing office takes all the stress out of the process. Whether you’re a locator helping a client or personally looking for your next home, don’t skip The Markson — and definitely don’t skip Alexandra! 💜

Kenyatta is amazing! She has been incredibly helpful with my new apartment and always communicates clearly with me. When I was a little lost finding my new place, she took the time to give me a full tour and explain everything. I really appreciate her kindness and support. This apartment has been an excellent choice for me. The community feels very safe, the location is convenient and close to my workplace, and the yard is perfect for my dog. Overall, I’m very satisfied with my experience living here.
