The Bond

I am about to finish a year long lease here, and frankly, we are relieved to be moving out. While the complex has some aesthetic appeal, the daily living experience has been quite frustrating. Cons * Fire Alarms: The alarm goes off roughly once a week at random hours. Recently, it stayed on for over 10 minutes at 8:30 PM. During one particularly bad week, it went off three separate times. Most residents don’t even exit the building when the alarms go off anymore because of how frequent it is. * Parking Garage Issues: The parking lines are so faded they are nearly invisible, making it difficult to park within the lines. It’s baffling for a newer, covered garage. Additionally, the entry gate is frequently broken because residents hit it, and at one point, it remained unrepaired for over a month. The sensor to exit the parking garage often doesn’t work so I have to open the entry gate just to get out. * Noise Issues: The walls are incredibly thin. Despite having 16ft ceilings, I can hear every footstep, conversation, and dropped item from my upstairs neighbor. Management’s only solution was to send an email, which did nothing to resolve the issue. This has been the worst part of our stay. We’ve emailed them twice regarding our neighbors and their most recent email told us to go resolve it ourselves. * Pet Cleanliness: Pet owners frequently fail to pick up after their dogs, and the "dog park" is entirely mulch. *Quality of Build: Inside the unit, several drawers were not sized correctly, so they do not glide or close properly. * Staff Communication: While friendly in person, the front desk is often unresponsive via email or phone. They frequently promise to follow up but "ghost" you until you reach out again. * Ring Cameras: No exterior cameras are allowed yet they have no issues with people changing out their entire door lock system. While I personally haven't lost a package, there are frequent reports of theft on the community board. Furthermore, the "Alta Open" app is unreliable, working only about 60% of the time. I’ve been locked out of the building at night because the app failed or sat at the gate for over 3-4 minutes because the app wouldn’t connect to the gate. * Pool Noise: People frequently stay at the pool after hours on weeknights. When I called for a courtesy officer to address the noise, no one was sent; instead, they simply opened a work order. Additionally, the property often smells like weed in the evenings. * Parking: Guests can only park in the garage for 24 hours and their pass needs to be renewed every day or you are at risk of being towed. You’re only allowed guests to park in the garage for a max of 3 days a week which is one of the dumbest rules I’ve ever heard of. Never had this issue at previous apartment we’ve lived at. Pros * Friendly Atmosphere: The staff are very kind if you speak to them in person, and the neighbors are friendly. * Amenities: It’s one of the nicer gyms in the area and hosts frequent community events. * Location: Tucked away in an industrial park, so it is relatively quiet. * Package Security: Despite the lack of cameras, I personally never had a package stolen although I’ve spoken to a few neighbors that have had their package stolen more than once. The cons significantly outweigh the pros.
