While Taos does have its flaws, it is an amazing place filled with some really amazing people. This is not a place run by a major corporation, but instead by a community. It is a place unlike any I have lived at, for I have never seen so many people participate in community events and be active in the common areas. Board games are played practically every night, with movie nights and other game nights thrown in throughout the week. These games are not run by an RA, but by someone who just wanted to play a game so set it up and people joined. People can be super friendly and amazingly helpful. The place may not be the cleanest, for it is maintained by 20 year olds, but it is still pretty good and I personally haven't had any major issues and I have serious issues with germs. It is nice that we have control of our common areas, as we decide when to paint and what color, or if a wall should be knocked down. The meals are amazing and an absolute gift for someone like me who hates cooking. I do not know what people are talking about with the noise, it is super quiet 99% of the time. Taos has become a home to me, a flawed home, but a home nonetheless. Co-ops are not for everyone, but for those that are willing to work a little bit (4 hours a week) it is an amazing place.

Avoid at all costs. Total ripoff, house run by sanctimonious control freaks. Leasing office is dishonest and will scam and overcharge you again and again. After all this time I am still waiting for some accountability but not going to hold my breath. I don't expect much from this fraud of an organization. Beware! Read everything very carefully before you sign a lease, and make sure they hold up to their end of the bargain. Don't let them get away with fraud, embezzlement, and scamming the poor. But why bother living at a place like this if you're going to have so much headache and grief dealing with this lying and thieving?

I really enjoyed my time living here - definitely living on a dime, and you get what you pay for, but really, Taos provides everything you need to be comfortable. Residents are always nice and the house officers, while still residents, have a high standard for cooperation and a low tolerance for BS. If someone really hates this place, its probably because they were causing problems and the fellow residents didn't want to put up with it. Love Taos, thanks for the memories!

The best student owned, student run, housing cooperative in the state. Comfortable, safe, convenient, and well organized. Across the street from UT campus and only a block and a half from the College of Communications.

Honestly, you get what you pay for in living here. Prices are kept low both by requiring weekly labor from residents and cutting corners wherever possible. The rooms leave much to be desired, but, for the price, are exactly what should be expected. That being said, the community here is very open, friendly, and supportive. If you are interested in co-op living and willing to put up with somewhat shoddy conditions, this is definitely a place to consider.
