They advertise a $250 "security deposit" as part of the rental application process (on top of a $50 application fee), and then if you decide not to sign a lease they keep your "security deposit" as nonrefundable because they "held the unit for you during the application process." This may technically be legal, but it's sleazy, and prospective renters should know about it.

BEWARE RATS AND ROACHES!!!! Building 2 has roaches and rats living in the walls. Multiple rats chewed holes in the kitchen and gained access to my apartment as well as daily roach sightings. All pest control did was check my unit and place down bait and maintenance patched the main hole. However, rats could be heard running and scratching in the ceiling/walls at all hours of the day and night. I spoke to my neighbors who confirmed they’d also been dealing with roaches for months and could hear the noises. A city inspector came out and gave a violation for it but the issues persisted. Management is also extremely unprofessional and don’t seem to care about you as long as they’re making money. Overall experienced a horrific living situation.

I have lived at Silver Creek now for almost 3 years in different units and have had a really great experience. Maribel and Lidia are always so helpful, kind, and accommodating. The pool is kept clean, the complex is really quiet, and there’s always a good amount of parking. For the location and the amount of space I’ve had in both units I’ve lived in it’s very reasonably priced as well. You’re within walking distance of coffee shops and restaurants and a few bars and just about 7 or 8 minutes from downtown and it’s very public transit accessible as well. I will say my electricity bills are a little higher than they would be in a newer build but maintenance has always been quick to respond to my needs.

I had an outstanding experience moving into Silvercreek Apartments in Austin, Texas, thanks to the incredible support from Maribel and Lidia. From coordinating paperwork to offering a warm welcome, their guidance made relocating from the East Coast stress-free. The maintenance tech, Edwardo, is exceptionally responsive; he promptly fixed a minor plumbing issue within hours, ensuring comfort from day one. The friendliness and efficiency of the entire staff create a community atmosphere that truly feels like home. Silvercreek stands out for its exemplary service and welcoming vibe. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a hassle-free living environment in Austin! And you can’t beat being 7 to 10 minute drive from downtown. Being in the center of it all for this pice is a steal.

Short version: Don't live here if you are not willing to be in a rundown poorly maintained building. While it may seem like an incredibly affordable place to live, you will pay for it in other ways. My electric bills have been higher than my parents who like in a multiple story home. Attached is my 440 electric bill with the address to verify. I received this bill in the same month that I was also without hot water and electricity due to their maintenance man gaslighting me and saying there was no issue with my water heater. Conveniently all of these past maintenance requests disappeared from their system which you can see in the screenshot of the resident portal, but you can see all the work order email confirmations I received from all the various issues I had to approach them for. Overall since living here I have had my AC fail, my electricity fail, multiple flooding events, my hot water go out, my mailbox broken into (and the complex never notified us), possibly have mold above one of the showers since their are no vents in the bathroom (photo included), constantly have doors and drawers breaking (one photo example of the door hinges included) and they tried to make me pay for another month of rent by saying I hadn't submitted notice even though I had sent two separate emails. Long Version: On September 6 I submitted a work order as my hot water heater was running all the time which was confirmed by the maintenance person who came to repair it. It was always so much warmer in the kitchen where it resides, especially the floor, than any other rooms in my apartment. However, the issue was not fixed as I lost power on October 2 when it continued to malfunction and was finally replaced. I was without hot water and power on and off for several days which was very difficult, especially when you work from home. My electric bills have always been higher than I anticipated since I moved here in November, 2023. This issue could be in part to the malfunctioning AC unit starting in March that had multiple issues and ran constantly for months before it was finally replaced. I keep my apartment in the summer at 78 degrees to save money. The last two months were very high due to the malfunctioning water heater. It is unreasonable to have an electric bill of $438.17. Furthermore, on Friday, October 11, I received a call that my apartment could be flooding. It turns out it was the laundry area which was not explained to me. I never received another call or text informing me that the issue was supposedly resolved. They did not clean up the standing water or inform me it was in the laundry room, so there was water standing in there for hours before I happened to find it. When I went to use my washer again, the pipe was not reconnected properly, and I had more water in the laundry room again. Lastly I received a phone call that my lease termination notifications were not received and was made aware no exceptions would be made even though I had two screenshots indicating I sent the email. I have since received a phone call that this was in error and the email was received. Truly after all the issues I have brought to the office recently, the fact that no sympathy was offered just continues to degrade my experience at this complex.
