Old South Austin Apartments

I’ve had a wonderful experience living at Old South Austin Apartments. The property manager, Maureen, is incredibly kind and always willing to help, and Jesse from the maintenance team is just as friendly and responsive. The whole property feels well cared-for, with a lot of charm and attention to detail. My unit is absolutely adorable—cozy, clean, and full of character. Plus, the location is unbeatable—so close to downtown while still feeling like a quiet, welcoming neighborhood. Highly recommend!

I’ve been at Old South since mid to late 2022 and I absolutely love it here. It’s a quiet and quaint little spot that has been a hidden gem for some time now, as many people zip right place as there traveling up and down S 1st Street. Which gives it a unique aura about it, because not too many people know of this spot, which in its own way is great and I’m guessing helps add to the peaceful energy that surround this place. We have a clean pool (I have to state that as I’ve seen other places, with higher rent and have some filthy pools…yuk), and a cute little BBQ area in the middle of the complex. Neighbors are friendly, and will say hi to you in passing, some will have a full on conversation with you about the day and what’s been happening during the week, which is cool. And outside of that, everyone pretty much stays to themselves. You’ll hear the occasional barking of neighbors dogs, either because they’re yelling at each other in dog language…lol, or just barking at anyone walking by their apartment area, until their owner puts them back inside…haha. There’s also a little dog play area, off to the right of the parking lot entrance. Mailbox and the laundry room are next to each other, and no need for cash or cards when using the laundry room, which is awesome. Spacious parking area, trash and recycling dumpster in the lot that is picked up early in the am throughout the week. A very clean and well maintained apartment community. Old South is literally right off of 1st Street, not too far from S Congress Ave, with wonderful spots like SummerMoon, Cosmic Coffee, CRUX, Toss Pizzeria and other restaurants within a one to two mile radius. Two gas stations just under half a mile from Old South. Downtown Austin is just under 3 miles down the road, and access to the 35, 183 and 290 highways m/roads are around the corner from Old South Apartments as well. Maureen is our Property Manager and she is very responsive and communicative with the residents here. Maureen not only responds back to maintenance issues within a timely manner, she also keeps the community aware of updates (i.e. maintenance, construction, pest control, freeze prevention of our pipes during winter, tips to keep our apartments cool during the summer, etc…). The property has a security company that provides patrol of our complex at night, which adds to the wonderful feeling that this is a safe place for singles, couples and families to reside in. Jesse is our Maintenance Manager, and he is very knowledgeable, helpful and efficient at what he does. He definitely stays busy, as he’s the main one here taking care of all maintenance issues, and Jesse has been on top of it. He will take care of most issues, and if there’s something outside of his expertise, Jesse will not hesitate to inform both Maureen and the tenant(s) that the issue will need to be outsourced to a third party. Both Maureen and Jesse are great examples of consummate professionals, who very much care about this property and the people residing here. And apologies if the apartment pics look a bit cluttered, as that’s my apartment :) and of course I made it as homely for me as possible.
