I've been at City Scene for almost two years at this point, and have really enjoyed my time here so far. Location is great, the apartments are beautiful, and it's well priced. I know a lot of people have written about the change in management, and to be honest I was nervous at first too! However, so far they have been great to work with, nice people, and I haven't experienced any issues (except for the occasional delayed response). They've always completed my work requests, and helped me successfully move from a one bedroom to a two pretty painlessly. If anything changes in this regard, I'll update my review but so far this notoriously hard to please person is a happy camper! Update: the apartments were sold again (to G&B) then many of them were turned into airbnbs which were so horrible to deal with. Also almost no maintenance on the grounds, washing machines, and getting things fixed was a nightmare. Seeing such a great little community turned to trash was sad. Avoid!

I’ve lived here for almost a year and while the inside of the apartments are nicely updated and pretty decent, the maintenance of the exterior leaves a lot to be desired. First, the communal laundry facilities (there are none in-unit) are pretty awful. They are not climate-controlled so very hot in summer and of the four washers and four dryers, only 1-2 of each are usually working at any given time. Today, ALL of the washing machines are “offline” and aren’t working, which is what prompted this review. The laundry trash is always overflowing and there is trash on the floor, and since there’s no A/C and the windows are always open, there is lots of dust, dirt, and bugs on every surface. I usually go out of my way to take my laundry to a friend’s or the laundry mat. Several units are short-term rentals (like the one above me) so you never really know what you’re going to get regarding noise with vacationers in and out. Maintenance seems to only come for non-emergency issues once in awhile when there are enough requests for them to make a trip and do them all at once, so sometimes they get handled pretty quickly and sometimes it takes a week or so. They did respond within the same day when I reported water leaking down from the unit above me. However, they never seem to truly fix the all of laundry machines. Overall, given the location, interior updates, private yard, and the price (I pay $1,350 for a 2bd/1ba when I signed my lease in August of 2021) it’s not too bad, but I don’t plan to renew my lease either.

I rented a unit here for a family vacation. The unit itself was great, the owner has taken great care of it. The apartments on the other hand can use some love. There are overflowing dumpsters everywhere and the landscaping needs some work. The hip, Austin-y feel is there but is being overshadowing by the garbage and wild weeds. Property management should address this ASAP as the property itself has the potential to be really great. The location is perfect, it's near downtown, SoCo, SoLa and many other great Austin destinations. It's about 45 minutes from Lake Travis which isn't too bad.

I haven't been here long, maybe a little over a month, but so far I really like it! I was worried at first with the apartments across from us as they are a little more run down, but I haven't had any issues and have felt very safe. Neighbors are nice and I like that the complex is small. I was nervous with the laundry facilities as I am used to having W/D in unit, but it is easy to use and super close to my apartment so not a huge inconvenience. The amenities of the apartment really outweigh that piece, for example the all tile floors and the fixtures are a great plus. I have two dogs and so I really love the little backyard I have, not to mention the gate leads out to an even bigger grass area so it's very convenient. The only thing I would say is that it seems people from other complexes come and don't pick up their dog poop, so it can get a little gross. But, Max has been great, and is always quick to respond and help get things fixed, so I know this won't be a consistent issue. It's in a great area and is close to downtown and to my work. I am loving the area.
