I stayed here, back in the 60s, with my little brother and mom, who was working on her master's degree. I was only four years old and too little to notice anything so terrible about it. But as an older adult, the place reminds me of graduate dorms anywhere else. And since they're renovated army barracks, you get what you pay for. If you don't like it, you'll be paying a lot more for what you probably don't need as a young college student. There's so much more going on all around, the bugs and noises aren't such a big deal. Plenty of trees and nearby trails, the "rock pile" and lots of neighbors kids to play with. I first learned to speak a little Spanish here. Great place for 'resourceful' students.

This is overall a great place to live for UT students. It’s pretty hard to get an apartment here, but once you do, everything runs smoothly. The staff is friendly, responsive, and efficient. The few times I’ve requested maintenance, they’ve handled it quickly and effectively. The apartments are old, but they’re well maintained. There are no amenities like a pool or gym, and in-unit washers and dryers are only allowed in the three-bedroom apartments. However, there are lots of green spaces and playgrounds for children. You really get what you pay for—rent is fixed and includes Wi-Fi, electricity, laundry, water, and other utilities. It’s probably the best deal available for UT students with families. The only reason I’m not giving Brackenridge a five-star review is that I believe there’s room for improvement—such as adding a gym and encouraging the City of Austin to increase bus routes to the area and/or add a CapMetro Bike Share station.

This is the best place to live. I would strongly recommend to every UT students with family and kids. I lived here over 3 years with a kid. Her childhood grew here with all amazing memories. Here is the safest place to live in Austin; friendly staff with a lot of kid, family events. I was luck to decide to come here during my Phd degree. Thank you and greatly appreciated for UT university and their staffs for creating such safe, warm and supportive environments for all UT students. I love this place so much. It is so sad to leave. Thanks

A nice, peaceful place to live with friends or family while studying at UT Austin. Some rooms are older and do not have an AC, so a fan is necessary. Although the trip to campus is far, a reliable metro shuttle 663 gets to the stop every 15 minutes. Odors can waft from the kitchen from neighbors, but overall, the living experience was great. Internet service is fast and on par with university wifi, and laundromat is very close by. Clean up after yourself and you should not have a problem with bugs.
