University Gardens

I do not even know where to start, I’m honestly just very upset. I moved in less than a month ago and it’s been very overwhelming. To start i was supposed to get a newly renovated unit and the day of I get a call trying to push back my move in date because the new carpet wasn’t installed. (They had over a month or so to get my unit ready) I explained I couldn’t do that because I already had paid for a U-Haul and it was the only day I had off to move. So I got stuck with a different unit that was not even cleaned, I was supposed to get a credit and this never happened . The first week or so I hardly slept because my upstairs neighbors were incredibly loud, I found a cockroach in my kitchen, my friends car got broke into. Now I could deal with all that but unfortunately it gets worse, on July 28th I reported a leak in my bedroom along the window. I was informed someone would come out and look at it but that never happened. Fast forward to this week I submit ANOTHER maintenance request (we have been getting lots of rain and it’s getting worse) but no one reached out. I’ve been having some issues breathing quite a bit lately, I’ve struggled with my health in the past. Well I noticed something on my wall a few days ago while making my bed….there is TONS of dark mold growing all over the wall. It’s fuzzy dark mold and my bedroom now has a mildew stench. The paint is bubbling up and according to a professional I sent pictures to there is signs that this has been an ongoing issue that perhaps got painted over. But this is where it gets even more frustrating, I call and call and CALL the emergency maintenance line and NO ONE answers or reaches out. I try to email and my emails get rejected, I try to text and my texts won’t deliver. ALL ways I’ve communicated before. It appears I got stuffed into a unit with known issues and now I’ve been ghosted by the management team. I’m beyond upset. Would not recommend this place to anyone, it’s absolutely sketchy and I’m extremely disappointed.

Edit: pretty good garbage disposals. Life. It means so much more than the four walls we sleep in. What is life? Is it to be lived? A thing to be conquered? An affront to the unknown Gods? Life has two phases. Birth and wanting. Birth. I loved the University Gardens more than anything in my whole life. The sun shines brighter when reflecting off oil slicks on Moon road. The wind lilts sweeter when sifting through muckslicked drywall stacks illegally dumped in your lot. The grass grows greener 'neath the sil where my breathtakingly obese cat watches the amazon man drop packages that have no hope of not being stolen. I once spoke with the previous landlord, Michele, for half an hour about birds. I love birds. Michele didn't know many birds but she knew PEOPLE. And she listened. And she laughed. And then she was gone. Wanting. In the year of our Lord, 2022, a canary suffocated in the Beulah circle. It knew. At that moment Windsor INTERNATIONAL sold the University Gardens to the sentient-protoconglomeratetrapezoidalharbinger known as "Soundview Equity." Babies wept, the stars flickered, the sun driven by it's wanton pleasures crested and held in the sky locked in place and did not move and the earth beckoned and called and pleaded and her rays beat down upon the scorched ground and steam curled into the arid choking sky and every beautiful thing that might have been blistered away and the sweet melodies of the moon road man stuck in his mouth and the stately benevolence of the downed mailbox shriveled and the little baby boy broke into every car on the block three times over and the sweet little boy took more than chargers. He stole my dignity. Soundview sucks. They treat people badly. Choose to live in a different set of four walls in a different place. I know that I am severely damaging my likelihood of receiving my security deposit with these words. But I'm just a fattened calf born for the slaughter. There was a magic to these University Gardens, once. But all magical places settle and stifle and pass along, carried on the backs of laden creatures to that sacred valley where you don't have to bribe people to get a five star review.

I moved into this apartment in October of 2025 and have been really been pleased with my experience so far. Ashley, the manger of the complex is friendly and very easy to communicate with. The unit was freshly painted, the carpet was new, and everything was clean when I moved in. Maintenance has been responsive and professional. I’m in a downstairs unit and utilities have been very manageable. It’s quiet and safe and a 15 minute walk or a 5 minute scooter ride to the bus stop on Maize. There is an in unit laundry room. Plenty of parking. So far this has been a great, quiet little community to settle into. East Clintonville has proven to be more affordable and just as convenient as Clintonville across the highway. I highly recommend this complex.

I was very happy living here. The apartment is spacious and cute.
