To put it politely, this place blows. I expressed concern many times, but it’s like speaking to a wall. It is very disheartening to receive no response when I reach our regarding an issue a disable friend of mine had getting up to my apartment on the third floor when the elevator was broken. The lack of care and concern from the staff is disrespectful. I can only pray the poop on the wall of the stairwell is from a dog and not the men I hear yelling at 3am. If you are looking for a place to live, let me save you the trouble, don’t bother touring.

Mackley Place thrives entirely on its location, sitting conveniently close to the OSU campus and High Street. Aside from that, however, it hits rock bottom when it comes to so-called "luxury" apartments. There is no pool or standard community amenities found at competing local complexes. Instead, residents are forced to pay for a "trash valet" service that provides little to no actual value, as most residents still have to haul their garbage to the trash room anyway. The building conditions are appalling: the floors are paper-thin, meaning you can constantly hear every single step, movement, and noise from the neighbors above you. On top of that, the stairwells are frequently filled with dog urine, and the garage often has dog feces smeared about. To make matters worse, despite the building plan calling for two elevators, management was too cheap to build more than one. This leads to agonizingly long wait times, and when that single elevator breaks down, top-floor tenants are completely stranded. Management recently mandated a bundled Spectrum Wi-Fi package for all units that results in a worse connection at a higher cost, requiring constant restarts. To top it all off, their newest "benefit" is a mandatory renters insurance policy that costs double the rates of leading providers while covering only a fraction of your personal belongings.

Since the management change, this apartment building has gone downhill. Management has not done a good job creating a sense of community or making residents feel heard. One major concern is how they have handled internet installation, including forcing installation in homes without proper permission or clear communication. They have also added fees in the middle of existing leases, which is unfair and frustrating. Package theft has also been an issue, and management has not addressed it properly or taken enough action to make residents feel secure. Overall, the building feels less resident-focused than it used to, and the lack of transparency, communication, and accountability has been very disappointing.
