Sur Club

I came here, to visit my daughter and Niki saw me and recognized i was not myself. So she got up and saw me almost fall. She grabbed me before I fell. Than came Janssa and kenny williams to help thank God for tham making me be safe I'm glad they all were there for me. Thank you so much From Randy Shaffner

Awful, awful location for what you are paying. Brand new apartments for downtown prices in a terrible area of town. Beware!!!

***Brutally Honest Review After 4 years Of Living at Sur Club*** This place used to be great. It’s slowly went downhill the last few years. I’ll start out saying I’m so grateful for Janessa, she literally is the glue that holds this place together. If she ever were to leave, I have no doubt this place wouldn’t make it 48 hours. Okay… I want to be fair, so I will share the good and the bad. Unfortunately now, the bad outweighs the good. I will say a few months ago, I renewed for my 5th year, but I already know this will be my last year unless things change. The Bad - I will narrow this down to 3 items… (1) The Wifi (2) The Fire Alarms and (3) The Increasing Fees. **Wifi** My biggest issue with the property over the last few years has been the Wifi. If you work from home (like me)… you literally CAN NOT live here. Not even a question. The Wifi is consistently not working, and will go offline often and sometimes for hours. Sur Club makes you use Spectrum, so you don’t have a choice. In my opinion, Sur Club never takes responsibility for the Wi-Fi not working. They always say its Spectrums fault and to call them. But it should not be on the residents. Sur Club has a contract with Spectrum (not the residents). We pay Sur Club for Wifi, Sur Club pays Spectrum. There are a ton of apartment complexes on 34th street now, so when ours is down, I will text my friends to see if there’s is down as well and it never is. The complexes literally across the street from us NEVER have Wifi issues. I also check to see if there is an system wide outage, and that rarely is ever the case as well. The owner of this building needs to invest money to ensure the Wifi works and stop shifting blame. THIS HAS TO BE ADDRESSED, ITS BEEN GOING ON FOR TOO LONG. (I’m sending this review from a coffee shop because the wifi is down again) **Fire Alarms** This has recently became an issue. It’s to the point now that the residents do not know what alarms are real and which are fake. The alarms are so LOUD. Incredible loud. And it is unbearable if you have pets, which is another piece of advice. If you have pets, this definitely shouldn’t be on your list for a place to live. Over the last 2 months we have had 6 fire alarms go off. 4 have been fake. 2 have been real. Not a good percentage for safety. Also not fun working from home or trying to relax and you have fire alarms going off for no reason. *Fees** The fee’s I will admit have snuck up on me until another resident mentioned it to me. As of today, I pay an additional $300-$350 to my base rent. As mentioned above, you are required to pay $150 for cable/internet even if you don’t use the cable. There is an “amenity fee”, “garage fee”, “valet trash fee”, and the complex passes on common area utility charges to the residents. So there’s also a “common area electric fee”, “common area sewer fee”, “common area trash fee”, “common area water fee”, and additionally a “service fee” for the company that puts together your monthly invoice ($50 a year per resident to send us our bill… what?!). Monthly statements have 10 line items. 1 for Rent, and then 9 for Fee’s. I’m not sure if this is common practice, I don’t think I’ve lived somewhere the owner has passed on common area charges. The Good – I will say this place is clean. They do a good job of that. The maintenance team is great. I always see new faces, which idk why people seems to leave a few months after they start, but they do a good job. They do frequent resident gatherings a well if that’s your thing. I really didn’t want to leave a review. But I don’t think anything will change here unless residents start posting honestly about how it is living here. I used to recommend this place to all my friends and have referred 4 people over the years that have moved in, however, as of last year my opinion has drastically changed. This place has a lot of potential.. but there are a lot of area’s of opportunity. And until they are addressed, the occupancy will continue to drop.

I’ve lived here for 1 year & it’s the best complex we’ve lived at. Close to the beach, tons of new shops popping up & THE CLEANEST grounds ever. Maintenance is prompt and friendly and front of office is kind and helpful - ESPECIALLY JANESSA! She is so understanding, smart & good at what she does.

Angel is incredible! He always shows up so quickly and gets the job done amazingly and efficiently! Super professional and always polite! He is the best 🙌🏻
