College Town Student Apartments

I’ve lived at this apartment complex for about two years and overall have had a good experience. The location is great and very close to restaurants and campus, which has been really convenient. One thing to keep in mind is that it can be pretty loud at night because of the nearby bars, so light sleepers might lose some sleep. My only real complaint is that the Phase 1 stairwell often smells like pee. It seems like someone is repeatedly using the stairwell as a bathroom, and even after it’s cleaned it usually just smells like bleach mixed with pee. I hope management is able to address this issue. Aside from that, I’ve enjoyed living here overall.

I’ve lived here for almost a year now, and my experience has been great so far. The staff in the leasing office, mail room, and maintenance team consistently go above and beyond and are always professional, responsive, kind, and helpful. I especially want to give a shoutout to Horace, who helped me out today. He was kind, efficient, and very respectful throughout the inspection and maintenance visit. It’s clear that the team truly cares about the residents and takes pride in doing a great job. Thank you for all you do!

I have beeb beyond happy with my experience living in college town. The building is constantly being cleaned and always feels “fresh”. Maintenance is very on top of it: elevators dont stay broken for more than a day. Compared to stadium centre down the street where elevators would be down for months and maintenance HA forget about it. We put in a request for a new dryer at 11pm and it was replaced about 9 am the following day. Management is super responsive, empathetic and has been very on top of it. It is very refreshing compared to my previous living arrangement (SC) where I complained about a RAT problem that has been persistent for months and the manager immediately told me that “she is sorry im not used to living in these conditions”. Collegetown phase 2 is a much much cleaner building. For renewal week they have been providing meals in the summer kitchen, they have been doing an excellent job.

I lived at Collegetown Phase II and did not particularly enjoy my experience. I would not if you drive (especially frequently, or at night), as my main gripe has to do with the parking situation. There are other issues I will mention but they aren’t unordinary for the awful way college apartments decide to operate. Maintenance frequently walks in without knocking, often in regards to very random requests or “inspections” that management ordered. The elevators are broken 50% of the time, and the only ground level stair entrance is on the west end. The gym AC was frequently broken. The back door is always able to be opened if you yank on it (and the handle fell off at least 5 times this year.). The front door is also unlocked about half the time, which is super dangerous considering the high traffic on Madison street (especially of drunk college boys with limited decision making skills.) The lobby features an amazingly high pitched alarm that is ALWAYS going off. Luckily I didn’t live near the lobby, but it really wasn’t a nice welcome home. The wifi works great for computers but if it is used on your phone it essentially disables it- no apps can load, texts won’t send, and calls disconnect. Regarding the horrendous parking situation. To begin, the parking for phase two is in the garage between Madison and Gaines street. While this area is perfectly fine during the day, undesirable people often use this garage for a restroom, a bed, a hangout spot, and their rotation location. This was awful to come home to after getting off work around 11 as a young woman. There were occasions where random older men (potentially homeless) would get in the elevator with me (on the days it was working!!), and this was just a scary situation for me because the cameras were consistently spraypainted or broken. To add to these elevators, it was always sticky with urine from the homeless population, or from the college boys with little regard for others. Aside from safety, the parking situation just sucked. We had to use the fifth floor, and driving up a garage with narrow lanes filled with massive F-150s and work trucks is already not fun. To add, we all know how many college students drive- I am amazed I never got in a head on collision in that garage. This parking also made grocery days a nightmare. I got ticketed trying to use the alley behind phase II, so for the rest of the year I took my groceries down the garage, often using the stairs since the elevators don’t work half the time, and then across the street and up to my room. I recognize these are first world problems, but for $100 a month I expect some level of security and an aspect of convenience. If I didn’t have to drive every day to work, I think I would’ve really enjoyed the sizable rooms, and great location for bars and restaurants.
