I can't understand how human beings can live in such a dirty, messy, and poorly maintained place. Appearances can be deceiving.

Horrible behind the scenes. Office has no sympathy or anything. I am currently trying to get out of my lease due to my safety being at risk and they have no regard to my police report being filed and even went through courts. My future lease has yet to begin and they’re stating I cannot get out of it. They’re stating that domestic violence victims aren’t protected under the law because they are private housing. A shame to Hannah, to Zane and to others in the office ! Update: you guys have not ensured timely communication, you guys tell me that you won’t speak on this matter anymore and it’ll be the legal counsel to then hit me up. I emailed you guys twice and no response since 9 AM today. It’s impossible to speak to Hannah by the way everything is emaiL BUT that’s after you call the office to say “when will I get a response”. You guys say “while also stating compliant” it is 4 girls in this apartment and you’re putting everyone at risk because you do not want to cancel / terminate 1 lease that starts in August….. it’s a shame really. If you think about signing just look for somewhere that has a termination agreement. They don’t care about safety, they don’t care about what’s happened, they don’t even care that I’ve went through the issue, they state VAWA is “typicall” government funded residential issues, but isn’t domestic violence everywhere? It’s a shame really. The communication isn’t even half of the issues with this complex but I’ll stay on topic. I see other reviews have the other issues pointed out.

I’ve had an extremely frustrating experience with The Retreat East. Communication is basically nonexistent — I’ve made multiple calls during their listed business hours and no one answers or follows up. On top of that, they’ve been completely unhelpful when it comes to returning my security deposit. It feels like they’re intentionally dragging things out or just ignoring the issue altogether. What makes it worse is that many of the amenities they advertise — and that residents are paying for — either don’t work or are poorly maintained. You’re not getting what you’re promised, which is unacceptable for the price. Overall, the management team comes across as disorganized and indifferent. It honestly feels like they don’t care about their residents at all. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you want a place that actually values communication, accountability, and basic service.
