Corry Village Apartments

I got a one-bedroom apartment after being on the waitlist for about 2 years. They offered me the apartment in mid-February with a 3-day notice to accept the lease, which started on March 1st. Since I already had an ongoing lease off campus, I had to pay for 2 apartments for 4 months, which was a bummer. But as soon as I moved in, it was a nice experience. I never had any maintenance or pest control issues. During my stay, there was a system breakdown in the common laundry room, but it was fixed within 24 hours. I always felt safe with the 360-degree CCTV cameras and the SNAP service, especially when coming back home from late-night lab work. The location is super convenient — most of the time I walked 5 minutes to the greenhouse for my experiments and 15 minutes to the lab, or I just took a bus or the campus connector. On weekends, I spent most of my mornings walking on the nearby nature trails. I also admired the beautiful Lake Alice right across the street, which became my go-to picnic spot where I’d relax in my hammock with a book. One thing I found a little hard to accept was that they increased the rent by about $100 each renewal cycle. As a graduate assistant, my salary never changed like that. During the last cycle before I graduated, spending more than half of my salary on rent sometimes made my finances tight. But I had nice and quiet neighbors, and I found friends in many of them, which was a bonus. Overall, I had a great experience living on campus at Corry Village.

Great. A campus housing that is more expensive than outside. I cannot wait to move out after my lease term is over. They are increasing the rent by $100 every year. Also parking is far away so you have to carry your stuff, it gets noisy, and no central heating so you have to wake up in the middle of the night setting temperatures across all 3 rooms otherwise it won't work. This place is overhyped and not worth it. PS: I forgot to mention their stupid tiny useless closets.
