University of Glasgow

The University of Glasgow was founded in 1451, making it the fourth-oldest university in the English-speaking world, and the second-oldest in Scotland. In the 19th century, the university was a pioneer in offering education not just to students from wealthy backgrounds, but also to the middle class. Today there are over 30,000 students studying in the university, and it’s easy to see why it’s so popular. In the 2023 QS World University Rankings, the University of Glasgow is ranked as the 81st best university in the world, and a 5-star university.

University of Strathclyde

The University of Strathclyde can trace its origins back to the Andersonian Institute founded in 1796. It gained university status by royal charter in 1964. It’s ranked as the 325th best university in the world in the 2023 QS World University Rankings and is especially known for its high-quality teaching in the areas of business management, engineering, finance and accounting, political science, law and architecture.

Glasgow Caledonian University

Glasgow Caledonian University was founded in 1993 by the amalgamation of two colleges, The Queen’s College Glasgow and the Glasgow College of Technology. Today GCU is home to more than 15,000 students, who get to enjoy studying in a great location, with the GCU campus located right in the Glasgow city centre.

How do I apply for student accommodation in Glasgow?

We’ve tried to make the application process for student accommodation as simple as possible. All you have to do is choose your favourite of the couple of dozen different accommodation options we have on offer in Glasgow. Once you’ve chosen your favourite, go to the property page by clicking on ‘View rooms’. On the property page, decide which type of room you’d like to live in, figure out the dates you’ll be needing the accommodation for and click ‘Book Now’. What types of rooms are available?

We offer three different types of rooms for accommodation in Glasgow. The first option is a Shared Room, where you share a bedroom with at least one other person. All other facilities are also shared.

If you book a Private Room, you’ll get your own bedroom (and in some properties a private bathroom) and will share other facilities.

If you book an Entire Place, you’ll get an entire studio apartment for yourself. This means you’ll have your own bedroom, bathroom and cooking facilities, without needing to share anything with anyone. The perfect choice if you enjoy your own peace and quiet!

How do I pay my rent?

We will provide you all the needed payment details once you’ve signed the contract and finalised the booking with one of our booking consultants. You’ll pay the rent directly to the landlord and won’t have to pay anything to Student.com.

Usually you can pay your rent to the landlord either by bank transfer or with a credit or debit card.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Yes, in order to secure the booking, you’ll need to pay the landlord a deposit. Your booking consultant will give you more information on this when you are finalising the booking.

Can I see the property before I make my choice?

Yes, this can be arranged if you want. If you’ll be in Glasgow before your move-in date, contact us and one of our booking consultants can arrange viewings for you. Many of the properties we list have a great selection of photos and videos on the property pages though, so you’ll be able to get a good idea of where you’ll be living even if you don’t see the place for yourself first.

Can I live with a friend or with my partner?

Yes, this can usually be arranged. Once you’ve submitted your application, you can log into your user account on Student.com. Navigate to the section for managing your preferences and state that you’d like to live together. Make sure your friend or partner does the same and marks on their account preferences that they’d like to live with you.
