Walk through Kelvingrove Park to the University of Glasgow every morning, and you’ll arrive in class around 12 minutes later, which means there’s time to pick up your morning coffee from An Clachan, the park café. The University Sports Club, the Student Union and Glasgow School of Art are also close by, and it’s a pleasant stroll into the city centre.
When you get back to Collegiate Claremont House, there’s plenty of room to relax in comfort. Take it in turns with friends to cook dinner in a shared home, then get together to watch the 32-inch TV. If you like having your own space, studio rooms have their own kitchen and living area, and there’s free broadband and Wi-Fi to keep you connected. When you feel like company, head to the common room or quiet study area, or pack up a picnic and head to the park.
Fill up your fridge at the nearby Tesco supermarket, or choose from some great cafés and restaurants when you can’t be bothered to cook. Mr Singh’s India is Glasgow’s best-known Indian restaurant – and it’s just around the corner. Head to Jack McFee’s for a traditional fish supper, then finish your evening at Vodka Wodka, a popular student bar.
It’s easy to manage your budget because the all-inclusive price covers all bills and maintenance. There’s an electronic door entry system and CCTV in communal areas, and shared facilities include on-site laundry and secure bike storage.
