The University of Warwick is primarily based between the city of Coventry and the historic county of Warwickshire on a 720-acre campus. It also has a satellite campus in Wellesbourne and a central London base at the Shard.

The campus is well located with excellent transport links providing students with plenty of opportunities to easily and quickly explore surrounding big cities like Birmingham, or smaller towns like Leamington Spa, Kenilworth and Canley.

Coventry is a city where you will find shops, cafes, places to eat, clubs and bars, cultural attractions and office buildings perched close to an ancient cathedral and a guildhall that was used by Henry VIII. The Cathedral is a hub of activity for the city hosting regular events such as live music, film screenings, theatre and vintage clothing fairs.

It is also a shopping haven and offers great nightlife.

The creatives will love the repurposed industrial space FarGo village - Coventry’s creative quarter.

University of Warwick history

The idea for a university in Warwickshire was first conceptualized shortly after World War II. However, it took two decades before it was approved by the government in 1961 and then received its Royal Charter of Incorporation in 1965.

A bold and imaginative partnership between the city and county councils granted the 400-acre site for the university to be built on.

Since then, the university has established the Warwick Business School in 1967, a year before the Warwick Law School. The former Coventry College of Education was incorporated in 1979, a year before WMG (Warwick Manufacturing Group) opened in 1980. The medical school (Warwick Medical) opened two decades later in the year 2000. Four years later Warwick HRI (Horticulture Research International) was formed following the merging of HRI's Wellesbourne and Kirton sites with the university.
