Clemson University

Discover a historic city in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with tranquil green space and exciting sports venues

Make your home in Clemson and you’ll want to spend your free time outdoors, soaking up the South Carolina sunshine. Enjoy a stroll along the waterfront at Larry W Abernathy Waterfront Park, or go boating, tubing, waterskiing or wakeboarding on Lake Hartwell.

When you want a change of scenery, there are 26 South Carolina State Parks within an hour’s drive. Lake Keowee and Lake Jocassee are within easy reach, as well as the Chattooga Wild and Scenic River, which offers some of the best whitewater boating in the region. If you prefer to keep your feet on dry land, Clemson University owns and manages its own public forest just 10 minutes from campus, where you can go hiking, biking or horseback riding.

On game day, wear orange and cheer on the Clemson Tigers on the baseball field at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. Watch football at Memorial Stadium, and soak up the best tailgating atmosphere in nearby parking lots. After the game, sip the coldest (and cheapest) beer in town at Sloan Street Tap Room.

Learn more about the history of your new home in the area’s historic houses. Visit former plantation home Fort Hill, step back in time at Hanover House, which was built in 1716, and hear about Revolutionary War hero General Andrew Pickens at Hopewell Plantation.

During the summer months, pick up local produce and arts and crafts at Clemson Farmers’ Market, and don’t miss the Clemson Festival of Arts which takes place in Downtown Clemson every May.
