South Los Angeles
Live near world-famous entertainment and sporting arenas, museums and action-packed attractions
There can’t be many international entertainment and sporting legends who haven’t set foot within these few blocks in the last 100 years. Located a couple of miles south of Downtown LA, the USC area is home to some of the nation’s biggest venues. The USC Trojans, who have count 396 Olympic athletes among their alumni, are living legends. Just browse the university’s Heritage Hall to admire the maze of trophies.
Start the day with a feast at a local café - pancakes and coffee at Jacks N Joe is always good. Fill up on a vegetarian feast at The Good Karma Cafe on the USC campus for just $10. Quick tip: if you bring a container, you can even take home your meal!
The nearby LA Live entertainment complex, adjacent to the famous Staples Center, is home to The GRAMMY Museum and The Microsoft Arena. Walk in the footsteps of your favorite stars in the same buildings that host the American Music Awards and the ESPYs as well as red carpet movie premieres. Even if you’re not hoping to catch a glimpse of an A-list celebrity, you can catch a movie in the 14-screen cinema or choose a bite to eat from over 20 restaurants.
But it’s not all big crowds and booming arenas, there's a laidback cultural scene to discover. Take in contemporary and classical art at local galleries on the Downtown Art Walk or attend an intimate movie screening or seminar at the School of Cinematic Arts.
Plus, you’re just a short drive away from hotspots like Hollywood, Westwood and Santa Monica if you want to take a day trip.
