Where is Dublin Business School located?

Dublin Business School (DBS) is located in the Southside of Dublin, Ireland.

The institution’s educational sites in the prime city centre locations of Aungier Street, George’s Street, Balfe Street, and Dame Street are all within a few minutes’ walking distance of each other, providing students with easy access to the important infrastructure of a vibrant modern capital city.

A mere two-minute walk from St. Stephens Green, the Luas, and all main bus routes, DBS is situated right in the heart of Dublin.

One of the friendliest and coolest capital cities in the world,

Dublin was voted Europe’s fourth most popular city break destination, behind only London, Paris, and Rome.

As intimate as a village and as friendly as an Irish pub, Dublin’s friendliness has won it deserved acclaim worldwide, earning it twice the title of Europe’s friendliest city by TripAdvisor.

Another reason for its allure is its natural beauty.

Natural beauty

Framed by mountains, centred on a river, edged by a beautiful bay, and decked with elegant Georgian architecture, Dublin is one of Europe’s most attractive capitals.

With mountains, sea, and wilderness close by, there’s always something new to discover. Head out beyond the city area and bask in its natural beauty. Check out the UNESCO Biosphere of Dublin Bay where you can do coastal walks, visit little villages, see wide sea views and rugged mountain backdrops. Take to the mountains for a hike, go rock-climbing in Dalkey Quarry, walk the cliff path at Howth, or join the Dublin hardcore who swim in the sea.

Historic, cultural and full of character

Beyond the natural beauty, Dublin is also resoundingly social, cultural, charming, creative, and full of character, craic (fun), and history.

Walk the streets of Dublin and feel the energy of over 1,000 years of history. Cobbled streets reverberate with the sounds of buskers, 18th-century parks play host to festivals, film and food markets, and echoes of the Vikings mix with buzzing boutiques.

But this ancient gem’s historic buildings and walking tours are just part of its bright character. You will also get a taste of it in its legendary entertainment scene, in the music, and in its streets and alleys that are filled with vibrant art, hip cafés, and busy traditional “old man” pubs.

Easy to get around

Dublin is small enough and safe enough to get around on foot. DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) and the Luas tram and suburban rail systems provide excellent transport links throughout the city as well.

History of Dublin Business School

When it was founded in 1975, Dublin Business School (DBS) was known as an accountancy and business college. It provided evening courses for students preparing for the examinations of the professional accounting bodies.

Success and a growing reputation led to DBS expanding its operations. Today it offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programmes in business, arts, and law, making it Ireland’s largest independent third-level institution.

In 1989, under a franchise arrangement with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), the college introduced its first undergraduate degree programme.

Three years later, DBS became a designated institution with the Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC).

In 2003, DBS was acquired by a world leader in education, Kaplan, Inc., the education division of The Graham Holdings Company.

The school broadened its horizons to the European market in 2006 when it acquired the European Business School (EBS). A year later, it also acquired Portobello College, one of Ireland’s premier third-level independent colleges.
