Unsafe, infested, and completely mismanaged. Do not move here. This complex has had documented vehicle thefts, serious privacy concerns, repeated pest issues, and management that does not take resident safety or living conditions seriously. My sister’s car was stolen from this property. That is not speculation or an accusation. There are records of it. My roommate’s truck was also stolen and has not been recovered. Residents pay monthly for parking, yet cars are still being stolen or broken into. How are residents supposed to feel safe walking to their apartments at night when this is happening on the property? The safety concerns go beyond the parking lot. My sister also dealt with major leakage that flooded her room, was wrongfully blamed for damage in the hallway, and was recorded while on her leased property without her consent. That recording was then sent to her by staff. She was 18 years old. I would never want my son, daughter, sibling, or friend living somewhere that treats residents this way. Now to my room: it has been disgusting and unlivable. I first complained about the pest problem shortly after I moved in back in September. The original pest-control worker told me that the previous residents had also complained constantly about bugs. That means this was a known issue before I ever moved in. When I requested treatment the first time, my room was so gross and itchy that I could not sleep there. They could not come until the end of the week, so I had to sleep on my living room couch for an entire week. I recently submitted another request to have my room fumigated again, even though I was honestly hesitant to complain because the fumigator previously told me, “You better not be like the girls who used to live here and complain about the bugs all the time.” That comment alone shows how dismissive this situation has been. If the previous residents were also complaining about bugs, then this was clearly not a new problem. At this point, my room is infested, and I believe the conditions are starting to affect my skin. I cannot believe I have been paying rent while living like this. Once again, I am sleeping on the couch while waiting to see how long it takes them to actually address the problem. Update: 4/26/2021 They closed my maintenance request without coming to my room. I uploaded new photos as proof. Seriously, do not move here. Update: 5/25/2021 It has now been a full month since my last update, and they are only now beginning to take the situation seriously. Management informed me that they no longer work with the previous pest-control provider due to poor professionalism and poor work. Yet they apparently never followed up on the poor work that had already been done, including in my room. Their new vendor, Massey Pest Control, initially told me this was not an infestation and was “just a small ant problem.” They only came to treat my room for two Fridays. I have proof because my room camera did not show anyone entering my room after that. I have been emailing the property manager, Miranda Mejia, throughout this entire situation after repeatedly trying to get help through the front office. Management confirmed pest control came, but when I asked what time they entered my room, they refused to answer the question. I was told pest control would come every Friday and clean up the mess caused by the carpenter ants. Instead, when I stopped emailing temporarily because I had finals, they simply stopped coming. That is unprofessional, negligent, and unsafe. As of 5/25/2021, it has been confirmed that carpenter ants have been in my room this entire time. To be very clear: I originally complained in September, shortly after moving in. The original pest-control worker told me the previous residents had also been dealing with pest problems and complained constantly. Let that sink in. This apartment complex has failed on basic living conditions, resident safety, parking security, privacy, and professionalism. The photos below show the carpenter ants in my room. Do not move here.

I lived at Prado Apartments for two years, and unfortunately my experience was overwhelmingly negative. The biggest issue was the elevator. The only elevator serving the 5th and 6th floors was out of service for roughly half of the time I lived there. As a resident on an upper floor, this meant carrying groceries and other necessities up multiple flights of stairs on a regular basis for months at a time. The property was also consistently dirty. Hallways were frequently covered in trash and, at times, dog feces. While residents should absolutely clean up after themselves, property management is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary living environment, and that standard was not met. Maintenance requests often took an excessive amount of time to be addressed. I was also disturbed by racist comments I personally heard from one of the maintenance employees regarding residents. To my knowledge, no action was taken, and the employee remained employed during my time there. That experience was extremely disappointing and contributed to an unwelcoming environment. The front office staff also frequently spoke negatively about residents. Rather than feeling supported when issues arose, many interactions left me feeling that tenant concerns were being dismissed. For a property that charges premium student housing prices, security was another major disappointment. My roommate had all four of her tires and rims stolen and replaced with flat tires while parked in the parking garage. This was not a quick incident, yet no security personnel intervened, and management offered little assistance beyond stating that it was not their responsibility. Parking policies were also extremely frustrating. Guests are required to obtain a guest parking pass from the office, but even when a valid pass is issued, vehicles can still be towed if the pass falls from the dashboard and is no longer visible. Residents and guests are then left responsible for towing and storage fees, which started at around $250 in my experience. Student housing options in San Antonio may be limited, but Prado is significantly overpriced for what it provides. Between the unreliable elevator, unsanitary hallways, slow maintenance response times, concerning staff conduct, ineffective security, and aggressive towing practices, I would not recommend living here.
