Hill Country Student Housing

Beware of this apartment! I actually wanted to write a good review of this place, but due to issues with management and move-out charges, they have left me no choice but to give them a one-star review. It took over two weeks for them to respond to my emails, and they never had anyone available when I called to speak to someone in the office. I was wrongfully charged for a carpet replacement that they never changed before I moved into the unit. They charged me almost $400 for a carpet replacement, which didn't make sense since the room wasn't big enough to justify such a high cost. They claimed the carpet was beyond wear and tear, but it had paint stains and regular wear and tear from the moment I moved into the unit. Before moving into the unit, I was informed that I would get the unit as is and would not be charged for the previous tenant's damages, but clearly, I was charged for those things upon receiving my final statement. I believe they have violated my renters' rights and are trying to scam college students when they already charge an arm and a leg in rent. Another issue is that they turn off the water without notice. For instance, there was a time when the water was off for over a day, and they were only able to offer residents water bottles. The only good thing I can say about this apartment complex is how fast their maintenance team works. I had high hopes for Hill Country, but was deeply disappointed.

I lived at HCP for four years while I was in school, and honestly, it was such a great place to call home. I always felt super safe there, which gave me (and my family) peace of mind. There’s always security patroling every night and cameras around the complex. I used a lot of the amentities such as the gym, pool, etc, but one of my favorite things was the shuttle that took us to and from campus every 15 minutes for free! Another small thing that not a lot of people remember is that they have bikes you can rent for the day to ride on the trails right behind the complex! Maintenance is also extremely quick and friendly which I really enjoyed. They never bother you and get the job done quick. HCP also does an awesome job of taking care of residents, especially during exam weeks. They’d throw fun events and even feed us on multiple occasions just because. My favorite event every year would be around rodeo time where they bring a whole petting zoo, line dancing, and cook rodeo favorites for the residents. The dog park was another huge highlight for me. Another type of annual event they would do is “doggy date night” at the park where they made hot dogs and brought toys for the dogs. My dog (and myself) made so many friends there, it was hard to say goodbye. Plus, the staff did a great job keeping it clean and making sure people picked up after their pets, so it never felt gross or neglected. Lastly, the people who really shaped my experience there was Mickey the manager and Celeste the leasing manager. Mickey takes care of everyone, has been there for years, and is usually the cook for the residents lol. She makes a mean elotes!! Celeste has also helped me with a lot of stuff with my unit, is super recepetive, approachable, and easy to get a hold of. She’s always been super kind and makes sure you’re taken care of. All around, this is probably the best, cheapest, and safest apartment complex on all of UTSA Blvd!!

This is my first ever apartment and I have had a 10/10 experience ever since I moved in! I come from a small town so moving to SA was kinda scary and this community has made me feel at home and welcome. They did an amazing job at matching me with my current roommates and I couldn’t ask for anyone better to live with. They are super pet friendly and have pet events as well as resident events all the time! They make delicious homemade food at these events and it makes me feel like I’m back at home.
