I hate playing this card, however sometimes you have to be the bad guy when people take your kindness for weakness. I cause no issues at this apartment complex and pay my rent as well as any fees associated if unforeseen circumstances arise and it becomes late. Unfortunately, management has shown no interest/empathy with me when it comes to my very rare concerns with this complex. I am not one to complain seeing how I am a USMC veteran (still actively serving privately in Iraq), but these individuals have left me with no choice. I have lost 2 vehicles due to being towed while I was in Iraq, while i just had to pay for a 3rd to get released because I just came home took a shower, shit, and shaved and boom my car was towed again (20min). I was told there is nothing they can do but surprisingly my rent is still going to go up every year like normal. I will keep this short and just agree with Ashley Youngblood below in saying that the garage is always broken (no compensation), elevators always broken, smell isn't the best, and amenities by the pool/outdoor are always inoperable as well. Let's not forget about the rabid homeless population here. I'm just amazed that no warnings are given out through the app or the contact info that is required when signing your lease. We spend thousands of dollars on this property annually and the least amount of effort to make your tenants feel appreciated is given. I believe there are some good people who work there but things need to change. It's the holiday season and its unfortunate that I have to spend money on tow companies when everyone knows visitors will be at a high at this moment. I haven't been made aware that there is a huge unauthorized parking problem once while living here so the need to tow that frequently and aggressively is not necessary. I know I won't be reimbursed, so unfortunately this is the best I can do. 10/10 wouldn't recommend.

DO NOT MOVE HERE. SERIOUSLY DO NOT MOVE TO THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX. Management is awful and completely ineffective. The gate for the parking garage has been broken for over a year, there have been numerous car break ins, there was an unhoused person living in the staircase to access the building from the garage, you can access the entire inside of the complex without any FOB through the apartment parking garage so literally anyone can get into the “secure” building, there is RAMPANT black mold, property management never lets you know when they’re coming into your apartment, and they are unresponsive to most complaints. The elevators are broken half the time and the entire first floor smells like raw sewage most days. The only thing I recommend about this place is the rowing machine in the apartment gym (but sorry, the stretching room at the gym also smells like raw sewage so you probably won’t use that space). DON’T MOVE HERE. FIND ANOTHER DOWNTOWN APARTMENT. **edit: The Baldwin responded to my review months after I wrote it. Just as a sidenote -- the gate has now been broken for almost two years. It was fixed for about two weeks and is now broken again. This is not just one gate, but two broken access points. Recently, I went up to the top floor of the garage and there was a huge stray dog roaming the top floor. I left food for the dog but when I mentioned it to a neighbor, he showed me a video of an unhoused man living in the courtyard of the complex with this dog. There are courtyard ground level apartments and many people with very small dogs in the courtyards at all hours but this is just another thing you have to deal with living in a place that doesn't value fixing broken gates or access points even though it impacts the safety of the residents. The indoor stairwell near my apartment is usually unusable because of dog poop and pee in the staircase. The apartment garage access doors to the building will lock randomly when it rains so there is no way to access the building (unless you go to the fifth floor and use the elevator where you do not need any security device to get in) and management will not respond to your complaints until days later, and won't even send notices about the system being down for 24 hours. Remember -- this is the only way to access the building without walking around the entire building to get to one of two other entrances (that also require a key FOB and may not work). Garage lights used to work but no longer work so there's no illumination in the garage at night. This is not a safe place to live and there's literally nothing being done to fix any of it. Oh, the only good thing about living here was the rower and now that's broken too with no hopes of it ever being fixed. Don't move here.

I’ve read all the bad reviews, & honestly I haven’t seen not one issue. I don’t ever hear the train, the parking garage is fairly lit up and the gate works. The management team, the maintenance, all the workers have all been nice. And I love how they have little pop ups, like free popcorn etc… it’s a really great apartment in my eyes and it’s very well kept up.

My overall opinion of The Baldwin is extremely positive. The community is beautiful, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed. I was more than satisfied with my visit, and the leasing specialist, Anthony, was outstanding, friendly, knowledgeable, and thorough in answering all of my questions. The experience left me feeling confident and excited about the possibility of living here.

Living at The Baldwin was genuinely one of the best rental experiences I’ve had, and I still miss it dearly. From the moment I moved in, it felt like home — cozy, welcoming, and stylish. I stayed in one of their smaller floor plans (I think the smallest one, actually), but even that unit felt surprisingly upscale and spacious for a single person. The design, finishes, and layout were all super nice — if mine looked that good, I can only imagine how stunning the larger units are. A friend of mine lived in a bigger unit, and theirs was seriously next-level. The location is honestly unbeatable. You're in the heart of St. Paul Square, so bars, restaurants, and fun things to do are just steps away — like literally no excuse to drive unless you were super lazy or maybe hungover. It made my time in San Antonio feel so vibrant and connected. Also, very dog-friendly, with a dedicated dog park onsite. Only downside was the lack of proper drainage — on hotter days, the smell from pet waste could get intense. The pool was the perfect size — not massive, but never overcrowded either. A great place to chill without feeling like you’re at a wild pool party. Rent was more than reasonable for the area and the amenities, especially considering how nice the units are. I was initially worried I wouldn’t be able to afford such a sleek-looking place, but it turned out to be a great value. Neighbors were another huge plus. Everyone I met was friendly and respectful, and I ended up making three forever friends during my stay — something that’s pretty rare in apartment living these days; thanks to all of our dogs. I swear dogs are the best way to meet people and make friends. Maintenance was quick and efficient; the maintenance manager reminded me of one of my uncles and was always a friendly face to see around the property. That said, no place is perfect. Noise became a big issue for me toward the end of my stay. I worked night shifts, and my upstairs neighbor had a young child who ran, stomped, and dropped things all day — it made sleeping really hard. The walls weren’t bad side-to-side, but the floors were paper thin. Some nights I also overheard loud arguments from down the hallway. I do wish the property had stricter noise policies in place, especially for weekdays. Like after a bit, enough is enough you know? Like honestly sometimes a “zero tolerance” policy felt it was needed. There were also a few infrastructure hiccups. The elevator next to the garage was out of service way too often, and since the parking garage only connects to the building on the second floor — and not directly via stairs — I had to walk outside, loop around, and re-enter to get to my car. It made what should’ve been a simple trip unnecessarily annoying. The parking gate also broke down a few times. Management-wise, it was a mixed bag. The property manager was always kind when I interacted with her, but we didn’t cross paths often. The leasing manager was great — super helpful and professional — but only handled leasing, not general issues. The community manager, though, wasn’t always the most approachable. I sometimes felt spoken down to, which wasn’t appreciated. As a grown adult, I don’t expect to be talked to in a patronizing tone. Despite those small frustrations, I honestly look back on my time at The Baldwin with a lot of fondness. The location, the look and feel of the property, and the general atmosphere all made it a fantastic place to live. I took a leap of faith choosing this place without touring it first (due to work constraints), but I’m so glad I did — they really set the bar high. When I move back to San Antonio, The Baldwin will be the first place I check out. I’d move back in a heartbeat.
