Who stops touring @3:45pm when you close @5pm? Seriously terrible customer service. Most places want to still want to give you tours @4:40 when they close @5pm. It shows how above and beyond they’ll go and who won’t.

After touring The Dacoma and speaking with multiple current residents, I left with several concerns that I believe prospective renters should consider before signing a lease. 1. Building Security & Resident Safety 🚨 The most concerning issue I observed was the way residents are accessing the building. According to multiple residents, the side entry lock systems were updated months ago, yet many have not received updated access credentials or complimentary key fobs. As a result, residents have resorted to placing rocks in the exterior doors to keep them propped open so they can enter and exit the building. Leaving doors open for extended periods creates a significant security risk, allowing unrestricted access to anyone at any hour. Several residents expressed concerns that unfamiliar individuals have been seen roaming the hallways during the early morning hours because the doors remain unsecured. This is a serious safety issue that should be addressed immediately. 2. Residents Must Pay Extra for a Key Fob I was surprised to learn that residents reportedly are not automatically provided with a physical key fob upon move-in. Instead, they must either rely on a mobile app that can be unreliable or pay an additional fee of approximately $80 to obtain a key fob. For a property charging premium rental rates, secure building access should be included as part of the lease rather than requiring residents to pay extra for a basic necessity. 3. Coffee Station Could Be Improved The resident coffee station feels underwhelming considering the price point of the community. It primarily offers refined white sugar packets and small individual creamers that appear to run out quickly. Providing healthier sweetener options such as raw sugar or natural alternatives, along with larger creamer dispensers that are consistently stocked, would create a much better resident experience and better reflect the property’s pricing. 4. Stairwell Cleanliness Prospective renters should inspect the stairwells—not just the model units and hallways—during their tour. The rear stairwells had a strong odor resembling pet urine and appeared to need more routine cleaning and maintenance. The overall cleanliness of these common areas did not match the standards I would expect from a community in this price range. 5. Pool Deck & Outdoor Lounge Maintenance The upstairs balcony seating area overlooking the pool was another disappointment. Many of the chairs appeared heavily stained and covered with dog hair, dirt, and other debris to the point where I would not feel comfortable sitting on them. Additionally, the outdoor refrigerator and freezer located on the upper balcony did not appear to have power and seemed nonfunctional. The drawers and interior compartments looked dirty and poorly maintained, making the amenity feel more decorative than actually usable. Overall The Dacoma has attractive features and potential, but several aspects of resident safety, maintenance, and amenity upkeep appear to need improvement. Secure building access, properly maintained common areas, and functional amenities are fundamental expectations for residents paying premium rent. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and works toward improving the experience for both current and future residents.
