I very much enjoyed living at Sampson lofts. Management is great, extremely responsive and professional. Maintenance as well, they are extremely responsive and will get your issue fixed same day in most cases. The location of the building relative to the train tracks is no secret, you know what you’re signing up for when you sign the lease. It’s also a pretty nice area to live. You’re close to a walking trail, a few cafes and bars within walking distance and still within the inner loop. Shared laundry is really the only down side, prepare to pay an additional $20-30 monthly for that.

I want to start by saying Heather, the building manager, is fantastic, and maintenance is diligent, responsive, and friendly. They genuinely try their best in a very difficult environment. Unfortunately, the tenants make this place miserable. Many are rude, destructive, and completely inconsiderate—of shared spaces, noise levels, parking rules, and even basic cleanliness. Living here feels like a social experiment. The parking lot is chaos. Cars speed through aggressively, wrecked vehicles sit unattended, and confrontations are common. Handicap spots are frequently taken by able-bodied residents without placards, and towing is inconsistent. Vehicle damage and poor parking etiquette are ongoing issues. Noise is constant. Trains block access regularly, walls are paper-thin, dogs bark for hours or days, and loud music and shouting happen at all hours. If you work from home or value sleep, this is not the place for you. The condition of the complex is unacceptable. Trash, vomit, and debris are often left in common areas for days. Large late-night gatherings take over shared spaces. The gym is never maintained by residents, and the property is consistently dirty. Inside the apartments, issues are severe. Since moving in January 2024, I’ve been without power, water, or gas for a total of 27 days. My apartment has flooded three times due to poor plumbing, and the sink clogs regularly. Despite this, I was threatened with a fine for briefly placing a trash bag on my balcony after cleaning flood damage. Overall, the price is absurd for the quality of life provided. I would never recommend living here under any circumstances. Cool vintage loft vibe, though.

I will be 100% honest, I wish I would’ve saved my money. Yes this place looks nice and relaxing from the outside. But when you move in and actually start living here, life turns into a nightmare. There is no sort of peace or privacy in this building. Walls are so thin I know my neighbors whole life story, literally I can hear them fart, cough, SNORE, hunch, etc. I wouldn’t recommend you working from home or being a student cause the train will make you lose your mind as it runs 24/7 with the horns screaming at you even as you sleep. The squeaking of the ceiling from the person above you moving around is highly annoying a louder than you’d expect. You can tell they try to keep the building clean as possible but the tenants don’t care, this place has animal hair and piss all over the place and smells 90% of the time. Also be ready for maintenance problems. I am thankful for Heather because anytime an a/c problem happened she was on top of it. Long story short, DO YOUR RESEARCH before moving here.

Recently moved out after a one-year lease and overall, we really enjoyed our time here! The unit itself has such a great vibe—exposed brick walls and a modern-industrial feel. Heather, the property manager, was fantastic. She always took care of us, went above and beyond, and truly made our experience exceed expectations. That said, there are a few things to be aware of. 1. The building is right next to train tracks. You will hear and feel the trains, especially at night. For us, it took about two months to get used to it and eventually we barely noticed. 2. One of the two elevators has been out of service for most of the past year, and if it starts working, the other elevator goes out. It was a struggle at times. Residents also do not clean up after their dogs and they constantly use the restroom in the elevator. It always smelled bad. 3. The walls are very thin, so you will hear neighbors’ conversations, music, and more... All in all, we still loved living here and embraced the “city living” experience. If we weren’t moving out of the city, we would have renewed our lease. If you do not mind everything above, you will enjoy your time here.

Beautiful inside. Very swag and modern. Super comfortable in the rooms. The trains are loud but that goes with the character. I gave it a 4 because the tenants are not friendly. Overall, If you work close by, this is a great place to live.
