My brother was transferred to Astoria Place from the hospital late in the evening with only his gown on and the kind Aides were nice enough to find some clothing for him before we could get there in the morning! We have nothing but high praises for the ALL the staff .. Aides, Nurses, Doctors and Administrators. They were even helpful in locating an assisted living residence for him. Thank you to everyone!

I visited this facility today to see my grandmother and was deeply disappointed by the unprofessional and dismissive behavior displayed by the front desk staff. As a visitor and family member, it is reasonable to expect that any staff member stationed at the front desk is adequately trained to assist visitors respectfully and competently. When I raised my concerns to HR, I was told the individuals working the front desk were “activity aides” and not fully trained for that role. While I understand cross-coverage occurs, it is not the responsibility of families or visitors to discern staff roles. Facilities are expected to ensure that staff are competent and appropriately trained for any duties they are assigned. I will not mention names because this is to raise awareness. Interactions with families fall under expectations related to resident rights, dignity, and visitor access, and dismissive responses to legitimate concerns are troubling. This appears to reflect a broader issue related to staff training, supervision, and customer service, which are commonly reviewed during state surveys and CMS oversight. I chose not to escalate this beyond the facility at this time because my loved one remains in your care, but I strongly encourage leadership to address front desk coverage, training, and professionalism. Families should feel welcomed and respected—not dismissed—when advocating for their loved ones.

I would like to share my appreciation towards the dedicated people that helped my uncle during his recovery. He had a bad fall and we were not sure he'd ever make it home. After 3 hard weeks working with therapy, Astoria did it. My family will always be grateful for the care and warmth that was received.

My mother is doing more than ok - she is thriving in her old age despite physical setbacks. After admitting to a nursing facility I worried about her, but during my visits she is happy and introduces me to staff and friends she is making. She she attends daily activities, her nurses are always informative and keeping me up to date, and her room is always clean. This was a great choice for my mothers long term care.
