Chris made this apartment experience much easier than I expected. He went over the apartment with me many times and was always patient, respectful, and calm, even when I needed to review things again or ask the same questions. At no point did I feel rushed or pressured, which I really appreciated. He took the time to explain details clearly, walked me through the process step by step, and made sure everything was done correctly. His professionalism combined with a very approachable attitude made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. If you’re looking for someone who is thorough, respectful, and easy to work with, I’d definitely recommend him

DO NOT MOVE IN THE SECOND OR FIRST FLOOR!!!! This place is a weird pocket of third world living in the neighborhood. The quality of the apartments is subpar; I’m talking, you can hear everyone do EVERYTHING. If you choose to live on the first or second floor, you will hear everything your upstairs neighbors do. You will hear them so well, you’ll know their entire weekly routine. I have heard my neighbors cough and their alarms in the morning. The floors/ceilings seem to be made out of simple plywood and have cheap linoleum made to look like hardwood floors laid on them. If your upstairs neighbor drops something on their floor, (your ceiling) it’s jarring! You can’t be mad too mad at them because they’re just living, but my god, how is renting out such low grade “apartments” like these even legal? The apartments are low value, and low quality. Walls made out of paper; floors that feel unstable and creaky with every step; and an overall lack of peace/quiet with all the noise you hear. Don’t waste your money!

I have lived in the Allen House for 27+ years and can testify first hand what a fine place this is. I used to dislike the term "apartment home" but the Allen House truly is. This is a quiet community in the heart of urban Houston. We are pretty much close to everything. There are trees everywhere and lovely landscaping. The best part about the Allen House is the staff and how much they truly care about our well being. Our Manager, Kellie, is the most thoughtful and professional person who truly is concerned about our experience as tenants. She listens intently and will make sure that she solves and issue that you may have, and if she can't, she will make sure that the right person will take care of it. She'll also follow up to make sure that the issue was resolved. Kellie greets you with a smile. She epitomizes customer service, professionalism and courtesy. The maintenance staff is second to none. Our convenient resident portal allows the creation of a trouble ticket. Status is immediately provided until the issue has been resolved. Most concerns are taken care of the same day if possible. I truly encourage you to come by and take a look for yourself. Don't be fooled by fake reviews, this place is very nice. You'll love it.

Avoid at All Costs – You’ve Been Warned! If you value peace, privacy, safety, and basic livability, do not rent here. This is one of the noisiest and most poorly maintained apartments I’ve ever lived in. • Noise Nightmare: The walls and ceilings are paper-thin. You can hear every conversation, TV show, and footstep your neighbors make. Many residents also blast terrible music at all hours — especially late at night when you’re trying to relax after work — and management does nothing to stop it. Doors are constantly being slammed, echoing through the halls and into your unit. To make matters worse, nearly every unit has cheap linoleum flooring instead of carpet, so you hear everything — every footstep, every movement — from above. The floors are so uneven and unstable that it honestly feels like it’s just a matter of time before someone falls through the ceiling. On multiple occasions, I’ve even seen apartment workers being yelled at by tenants about the constant noise. It’s not just me — and I’m typically not very noise-sensitive — it’s genuinely that bad here. • Management Doesn’t Care: I once witnessed a manager “handle” a noise complaint by literally shrugging and telling the tenant to deal with it themselves. I’ve sent emails about problems and gotten no response. The bare minimum would be to put a note with an official letterhead on the offender’s door or send them an email reminding them to keep it down or use headphones — but they don’t. I love music and movies myself, but I’m considerate: I use headphones and keep my TV volume low so I don’t disturb anyone. Here, you’re surrounded by inconsiderate neighbors blasting loud hip-hop or slamming doors, and management looks the other way. • Horrible Smells: Odors travel freely through the vents and walls. At one point, I believe my neighbor was making drugs, and the smell poured into my apartment. I constantly had to run the stove and bathroom fans just to keep the stench out. • Unsafe & Unlevel Floors: The floors are uneven and feel unstable when you walk. The building’s wear and questionable integrity are obvious, and I’ve heard from other tenants about leaks on the third floor. • Maintenance Disaster: Every month, I had to submit maintenance requests for the same issues. The bathtub constantly clogged with dirty water. Turning on the kitchen garbage disposal sometimes caused the bathroom sink to back up with filthy water. • Unreliable Utilities: During one beautiful week, the power went out repeatedly with little explanation. Many of us lost the food in our refrigerators. • Zero Privacy: The windows aren’t tinted, so anyone outside can see straight in. Combined with the noise and smells, it feels like there’s no separation between you and your neighbors. • Safety Concerns: I’ve personally seen cars parked out front with their tires stolen. Security is clearly not a priority here, and management doesn’t seem to care. • Bugs & More Bugs: Infestations are a recurring problem. A few weeks ago this place less than a 4 star rating; now it suddenly has 4 stars. I believe the company is leaving themselves reviews to keep their 4-start status. This place is tragic. Overall, this building feels like it’s falling apart. With the noise, odors, bugs, thefts, door slamming, paper-thin walls, and cheap linoleum floors amplifying every sound — plus a management team that ignores complaints — it’s hard to believe they’re legally allowed to rent these units. Save yourself the stress – do not rent here

I've lived here for a couple of months now and I love it! Great location for working downtown, and great team overall. For the last couple of days, the complex has been dealing with major power outages. They have been very communicative, and not only are they offering the residents hotel reimbursement, but have also sourced generators to help us have power while the repairs are still ongoing. Fantastic job dealing with a difficult time for everyone!
