I lived at The Cooper during the June fire, and I need to correct the narrative that “new management” keeps posting under every review. Their responses about being supportive, communicative, and attentive are simply false, and anyone considering living here deserves to know what actually happened. After the fire, communication was nonexistent. Weeks and months went by with little to no real information about my unit, my belongings, or any next steps. Their replies online claim they reached out individually, gave consistent updates, and handled concerns with care. In reality, they ignored emails, contradicted themselves constantly, and left hundreds of displaced residents completely in the dark. When they finally organized retrieval, it became painfully clear that the priority was not resident wellbeing but protecting the building’s financial value. Their attorney made it obvious that their real goal was to dump my belongings so they didn’t risk losing tens of millions of dollars. And to make matters even more cruel, they refuse to tell us where our discarded belongings are being taken. Residents aren’t even given the chance to salvage anything from the trash because management will not disclose the location. They are deliberately preventing displaced people from recovering the last pieces of their lives. Instead of allowing me access to my home, they limited me to just two boxes. That was all they were willing to give me. Two boxes representing everything I owned. They claimed this was due to “mold” and “contaminants,” but that excuse doesn’t hold up. If it were truly a safety concern, they would not have given me a third box, which I only received after fighting tooth and nail for it. They could have easily given residents more items, and they chose not to. This was never about safety. It was about limiting liability and speeding up demolition so they could get the building reopened and profitable again. Adding insult to injury, when construction workers went in to retrieve my items, they used the wrong list. When I pointed it out, management’s response was essentially, “Sorry, it’s our error and we can’t do anything; the construction team won’t do a second run.” Only after pushing back repeatedly did they admit their mistake and agree to give me one more box. They chose convenience over accuracy, and it cost people irreplaceable pieces of their lives. Their refusal to allow even a 30-second FaceTime from inside my unit was another slap in the face. I wasn’t asking to walk through hazardous debris; I asked for a brief video so I could see what condition my things were in. Their excuse was that the construction team “didn’t have time.” That’s not safety. That’s apathy. Worst of all, during retrieval they forced me to sign a form stating that all my belongings were included, while simultaneously refusing to let me open or inspect the boxes because it was a “safety issue.” When I hesitated, they threatened to take the box away entirely. It was coercive, dehumanizing, and a perfect example of how this entire process was handled. The Cooper’s owners keep replying to these reviews with the same polished, copy-and-paste lines about compassion, care, and support. Don’t be fooled. Those replies are PR, not reality. The truth is that residents were abandoned, silenced, gaslit, and treated as liabilities instead of human beings who lost their homes. Their public responses pretend they personally contacted residents, offered support, and addressed concerns with care. That is absolutely not what happened. What happened was abandonment. Management disappeared when we needed clarity and guidance the most. Their lawyer prioritized protecting a $40 million asset over the rights and dignity of the residents who lost everything. And their so-called “help” amounted to empty platitudes while we scrambled to find housing, replace essentials, and cope with the trauma of losing our homes, without seeing a cent from them. I would never recommend living at ANY apartment associated with either Cushman & Wakefield or RPM.

There is someone who lets their pet pee by the 5th floor elevator EVERYDAY. It is disgusting. At least be a little considerate and don't do it by the elevator and/or door. 12/17 The office staff either has no answers or is unresponsive to emails. The only way to get the attention of this place is through the reviews - for obvious reasons I'm sure. They'll make you get renters insurance but then still charge you the monthly renters insurance fee. 6/26 The saga continues. Do NOT rent a Cushman and Wakefield property. A fire recently tore through our apartment complex, displacing around 800 residents. It happened so fast that most of us had no time to grab anything — not clothes, IDs, medications, or pets. Some were at work or school and came home to find everything gone or inaccessible. What made a heartbreaking situation even worse was the lack of clear communication or guidance from management, both during and after the incident. It’s been chaotic trying to get updates, retrieve basic belongings (if even possible), or figure out what’s next. If you're renting here or anywhere — get renters insurance!!!! Do not trust these management companies. 7/31 Day 38 of the Cooper Fire Property management changed from CW to RPM LIVING on 7/21. Move outs started for B2. They gave an unreasonable time limit of 4 hours to move out. Their scheduling is disorganized, rushed, and inflexible. Asked if B1 move out plans are in the works or if they can confirm that we will eventually get access - no answers given. Still no transparency. New property management. Still the same bullshit. 11/19 140 days later.... Still no updates from The Cooper per their "weekly emails with updates". they're such liars. Theyre demoing units down, changed construction companies, changed security measures. And yet they didn't bother to communicate those important updates to us. The incompetence hasn't stopped. 11/25 They cite we could only get a few boxes of items because there is mold, contaminants, pollutants in our units. SO YALL FUTURE RESIDENTS BETTER WATCH OUT. DONT BE LIVING IN A BUILDING THAT USED TO BE INFESTED WITH TOXIC SHIT.

It’s not the worst place to live I was there for 2.5 years but for the price they need to do better upkeep on the building. CONS: The trash chute clogs up and trash room overflows every weekend because there’s no trash pick up till Monday. The hallways especially the carpets are NEVER vacuumed or cleaned. Pretty much the only area that I ever saw a cleaner was around the leasing office. Lots of glass on the sidewalk around the loading dock/dumpster pick up area which is dangerous for pets. The freight elevator in bd1 breaks every 3 months and takes at least a week to fix. Getting large packages delivered is impossible because the mail lockers are tiny and they don’t have access to the building for door delivery. Only fetch can deliver to doors and they will not do heavy or large items. PROS: The area is great there’s lots nearby to do. I never had or saw any bugs in or around the unit. Overall felt safe in the area and never had my car broken into.

The building offers many great amenities for daily life, and the staff is kind and attentive, often organizing fun events every month. However, despite being labeled as “luxury apartments,” the behavior of some residents leaves much to be desired. It’s common to find dog poop in the 4th floor garage, as many residents walk their pets there and don’t clean up after them. If you're considering using the coworking space to work or study, be aware that it’s often noisy. Some residents bring their children there to play or skate, and others take loud meetings without using headphones. But the worst part is not even having peace inside your own apartment. Since a new neighbor moved in above me, I can hear every movement—walking, dragging furniture, even late at night around 11 PM or midnight, and early in the morning around 7 AM everyday. We couldn't sleep even though it was the weekend (I recorded this video in the Sunday morning 6:30/7am). This was never a problem before, but now it seriously affects my quality of life. For these reasons, I do not recommend living here. Look for a place where residents have a greater sense of community, respect, and basic manners.

I still currently live at The Cooper with my younger brother but will be leaving for a new job in a few weeks. This place has been such a blessing in many ways. They take care of issues quickly and the location is amazing! You can walk to many great local places and to top it off you can see fireworks during the 4th of July with ease if you are on the upper floors. The staff is wonderful and I cant recommend the place enough. I am happy my brother is staying for another few years just so I can visit haha.
