This community offers a great location with easy access to the Greenbelt, Zilker Park, and downtown Austin, making it a convenient and peaceful place to live. Residents frequently highlight the friendly and responsive staff, especially the maintenance team, who are often praised for their quick and thorough work. While the townhome-style units are generally well-maintained and offer the benefit of an attached garage, some residents have experienced recurring maintenance concerns like AC issues, plumbing problems, and occasional pest control challenges, suggesting that some units might benefit from more comprehensive updates.

I have been a resident at MAA Barton Creek for over three years and I want to be very clear with anyone considering living here: the experience after you sign your lease is nothing like the experience when they are trying to get you to sign one. The staff is warm, attentive, and professional during the application process. Once you are a tenant, that changes completely. During my time here I dealt with mold in my unit that was reported and ignored, maintenance tickets that were falsely marked as completed without any work being done, and an emotional support animal accommodation that was submitted and then lost entirely — resulting in over a year of wrongful pet rent charges. When I transferred units due to habitability concerns, I moved into a smoke-damaged apartment with yellowed vents and carpets that had not been replaced. My current unit has a permanent structural issue — confirmed in writing by management themselves — that has gone unresolved for months. My rent was increased by nearly $400 at renewal despite this known condition never being disclosed. What has been most frustrating is the complete lack of accountability in communication. Emails go unread. Responses contradict previous written statements. Formal written requests are ignored for weeks. When leadership is copied they still do not respond to what is actually being asked. If you choose to rent here, document every single interaction in writing from day one. Do not rely on verbal conversations or promises. And do not expect the energy they show you at the leasing office to carry over once you are a resident.

Had an emergency leak at night that needed to be fixed and Rob showed up within an hour to fix it. It was excellent maintenance service!

Drove 3.5 hours to tour this apartment complex. We scheduled an appointment with Sandy at 4pm. Day of, I received a verification phone call and email at 11:24am and 11:37am, respectively. I confirmed the appointment via phone with Sandy. My husband and I arrived a few minutes early and the office was locked and lights off. We made an assumption that they were taking another person(s) on a tour and waited. I emailed Sandy asking if we were still able to tour the apartment and informed her we were waiting for her as the number I called led to an automated line. THIRTY minutes passed our original appointment time - I received back to back phone calls from this company (not Sandy) - to explain there was a miscommunication, they were busy, and email isn’t their conventional way of communicating. Obviously, I didn’t view the apartment this day. I’ve now received an email this morning from Sandy hoping I enjoyed my tour of the apartment. I also received a call from Holly asking about my recent tour with Sandy and if she could help with any questions. Reminder: I was no-showed. I’m grateful this company showed their true management abilities from the beginning so we didn’t sign a lease. As someone who has been the renter and landlord before, this a red flag all around. I could only imagine the situation if something were wrong with our actual unit post-lease. Do yourself a favor and don’t even set an appointment. You’ll save HOURS of your time.

I visited my friend at this complex because I’m looking for a place to live in Austin. Looks like the unit has issues with the AC and can’t keep up with cooling the place, and we’re not even in summer yet. Makes it easy for me to cross this one off my list. Dodged a bullet.
