Mohawk Garden Apartments

I contacted property management back in February, was told a one bedroom unit would be available in April. After providing my application, copies of paystubs and a copy of my driver's license, I was told none were available. I inquired about a two bedroom apartment. 2 would be available in May, made it clear that I was interested and because I was willing to pay 1st, last and deposit got accused of an eviction; property management hadn't processed my application. Due to falsely being accused of an eviction, I contacted BBB. Nothing was done. After providing 1st and deposit, the unit I had been promised suddenly was flooded and wouldn't be available. Because of my complaint regarding being accused of an eviction and my application not being processed fairly or being treated like any other potential tenant, suddenly property management decided I didn't meet requirements for the 2 bedroom...that's what they told BBB. I did not get a reason, for why they refused to rent to me. Highly unprofessional. Slandering potential tenants, accepting payment for a unit which was agreed upon, then pulling the rug out from under them. They will also constantly misgendered me, referring to me as female. Hoping no one else feels the need to deal with this treatment.

Many, Many Issues ! Washers and Dryers don’t work half the time , No Handicap Parking or Entrances ! No Security Systems at all, Hallways and Apartments smell Nasty ! I know with the New Management, They are Trying, But have a Very Long List to accommodate Us ! I do have Hopes that it will get better

Unfortunately I lived in Mohawk gardens from August of 2021 to August of 2022 and it was an experience to say the least. First off the buildings are completely unlocked and the basements are interconnected, this leads to people getting down there and destroying and stealing things frequently. I had my locked up bike stolen from the basement and the response from the complex when I asked for the security camera footage was “a group of kids destroyed the cameras about 2 months ago” so they knew things were getting damaged in the basements and did nothing about it. Second the maintenance is horrendously slow and things seldom ever get done to begin with if you don’t ask 2, 3 and 4 times. It took 2 weeks after I moved in to get the missing window blinds and a co2 detector for my apartment along with window screens never being replaced despite asking 2 times. And to top it all off they stole 100$ from my security deposit after telling me I was getting the whole thing back for “carpet cleaning and repainting the apartment” Which isn’t legal under NYS renters rights because landlords are responsible for normal inter-tenant maintenance (might I add there were stains on the carpet when I moved in and I had to scrub it myself) The only good thing about living here was it’s cheap. That’s about it so save yourself the headache and shell out the extra couple hundred dollars or you’ll regret it while you live here .
