Many students find this co-living option to be a seamless and convenient way to secure housing in NYC, especially for those new to the city, international students, or anyone needing flexible, short-term, or fully furnished leases. The apartments are generally clean, well-maintained, and match their online descriptions, often located in desirable areas with easy access to public transport, grocery stores, and campus. While the leasing and move-in processes are frequently praised for being straightforward and efficient, and the support team is often responsive, a few renters have experienced significant delays or unresponsiveness when dealing with maintenance issues or security deposit refunds.

Roomrs made my move to NYC pretty easy, and the move-out was just as simple. The instructions were clear, communication was quick and I didn’t have any issues figuring out what needed to be done. I’m also expecting to get my security deposit back soon, so hopefully that part will be just as smooth!

My room has a serious water leak, with visible damage and crumbling concrete around the affected area. Despite the seriousness of the issue, I have been unable to get meaningful support from Roomrs. I scheduled TWO official online support meetings through their link. I joined both meetings at the scheduled time, and no one from Roomrs showed up. Their building super’s phone was never answered. I also tried contacting their emergency support line, but I have not received a callback. Meanwhile, I am still paying full rent while the water leak and property damage remain unresolved. The most frustrating part is not just the maintenance problem itself — it is the complete lack of response and accountability after repeatedly trying to contact them. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend thinking twice before renting from Roomrs.
